**Job Summary**
As the **Sous Chef** , you will play a key role in ensuring the successful daily operations of the Culinary Department within a healthcare food service account. You will assist in supervising food preparation and cooking, contribute to the development of daily menu items, and oversee their presentation and garnishment. This position may include supervising hourly team members and collaborating closely with the Executive Chef to innovate new menu offerings and manage inventory and ordering. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and entrepreneurial culinary professional.
**Key Responsibilities:**
+ Support the Executive Chef in managing food cost controls and overall account expenditures.
+ Assist in menu planning and creation to ensure variety and quality.
+ Lead the execution of catering events, ensuring excellence in presentation and service.
+ Implement new culinary programs in partnership with the company’s marketing and culinary teams.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Associate’s degree in culinary arts or equivalent experience.
+ Progressive experience in culinary or kitchen management, based on education and training.
+ Prior healthcare culinary experience is a plus.
+ Experience in high-volume, complex foodservice operations is highly desirable.
+ Familiarity with institutional and batch cooking methods.
+ Strong knowledge of current food and catering trends, with an emphasis on quality, sanitation, cost control, and presentation.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Outlook, and internet applications.
+ Willingness to engage in client satisfaction initiatives.
+ ServSafe certification is highly preferred.
