The Salvation Army Owens Campus is looking to fill a Sous Chef position. The qualified candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of Food Service experience, be able to multitask and the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 3 years Food Service or related experience Previous culinary management experience preferred. Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills Excellent knowledge of and ability to use current Microsoft software computer programs, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Publisher, as well as Google office suite applications, Adobe Acrobat and the internet. Excellent interpersonal, telephone and communication skills, both written and verbal Excellent detail, organization, and time management skills. Ability to work in a team setting with other professionals. Ability to maintain a self-motivated and self-directed schedule, address multiple projects in a timely manner and take projects from beginning through completion. Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances. Ability to handle EBT/Debit, and cash transactions. Current Nevada food handler card: Food manager certification preferred. Culinary certification preferred but not required.RESPONSIBILITIES
The Sous Chef will assist the Executive Chef with all day-to-day operations of the department which include but are not limited to the following:
Comply with standards of service set by the Executive Chef and assist in assuring the same of all kitchen staff including volunteers, clients, and community service participants. Coordinate food production prep schedules and ensure the highest level of food quality, taste and presentation. Supervise and participate in food production. Assist the dining room manager in training kitchen staff on proper methods of food prep, handling, proper use of equipment, and all departmental procedures. Require strict adherence to health, safety, and food handling guidelines. Assist in food ordering, inventories, menu idea planning, and special events. Ensure temperature logs are kept up to date. Ensure proper storage guidelines are adhered to by following the FIFO method. Represent the kitchen to tour groups, volunteers, and visitors in absence of Dining Room Manager. Assist with creating and modifying staffing schedules. Delegate routine daily cleaning tasks to clients and community service workers assigned to the kitchen. Assist in organization details for and participate in special activities and events, as assigned. Oversee the completion of daily and monthly reports as needed including volunteer sign-in sheets. Assist in planning and execution of catering events. Routinely check the status of all equipment for proper operation and make reports as necessary. Assist with HMIS tracking for all clients, café and community meal services. Monitor data quality. Ensure all kitchen staff maintain the highest levels of grooming, personal hygiene, and appearance. Assist with the organization of and attend staff meetings. Other duties as assigned.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
