Sourcing Strategist

Summary

The Technology Strategic Sourcing Specialist will be responsible for procuring a range of technology-related products to enable internal business functions as well as the build and support of Guidewire customer facing products. This role involves working closely with all levels of various business functions and regions to ensure efficient sourcing strategies and negotiation techniques are leveraged to yield cost-effective, risk mitigated contracts and partnerships with suppliers that add value.

The ideal candidate will have a background in strategic sourcing within the technology/software/hardware categories, negotiations, contract management, and supplier and business relationship management.

Work Location & Culture – Guadalajara, Mexico

We’re excited to expand in Guadalajara with a hybrid work model that combines remote flexibility and intentional in-person connection. As the local team grows, we plan to establish a shared workspace—such as a WeWork or Regus-style facility—in a central location to support collaboration, community, and productivity.

In the meantime, team members will work remotely and gather periodically for social events, volunteer opportunities, team-building, and professional development. Candidates should have reliable access to transportation—public or personal—to central and/or Midtown Guadalajara, as occasional in-person meetups will be expected. Once the shared workspace is in place, in-office presence may range from 1 to 3 days per week, depending on team and business needs.

Job Description

This position is remote to start, but we intend to have an office location for 1-3 days at an office location. All potential candidates MUST live in Guadalajara, Mexico area.

Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Sourcing:

Manage, review, and negotiate a portfolio of technology contracts, focusing on software/saas/hardware, and directly related professional/consulting services, and contingent labor.

Apply strategic sourcing best practices and category insights to negotiate and execute contracts.

Review category for strategic deal renewals and/terminations and work with stakeholders well in advance on proactive strategy and plan.

Participate in sourcing events (RFXs) to determine optimal suppliers and solutions with business stakeholders.

Contract Management:

Use standard contracting templates, terms, data and procurement tooling to ensure compliance with company standards.

Manage the lifecycle of key supplier contracts, ensuring risk mitigation and value creation.

Generate additional value in contract through negotiated savings and value-add trades in partnership with business 

Supplier Relationship Management:

Build and maintain relationships with a range of business requesters/stakeholders across functions and regions.

Create and maintain supplier relationships and associated risks throughout their lifecycle.

Implement supplier performance assessment programs per Guidewire approach, including track trends and identify areas for improvement.

Category Management:

Execute day-to-day to the agreed upon category strategies and plans.

Identify and implement new opportunities for cost reduction, cost avoidance, and supplier-driven value creation.

Assist in the annual refinement of category strategies, plans, and benchmarks that align with company objectives and maximize category spend and value and micro/macro changing landscape.

Data Analysis, Reporting & Enabling Technology:

Utilize data analytics tools and procurement software to analyze procurement data, identify trends, and generate reports that provide actionable insights for decision-making.

Use Zip, Zylo, Coupa, Google, Slack and relevant AI technologies to collaborate and efficiently execute job related tasks

Process Improvement:

Collaborate with category team, leadership and stakeholders to identify, develop, and implement best practices, standardized procedures, and process improvements across procurement activities.

Identify improvements to automate, remove friction and/or improve metrics and outcomes via processes, data, and technology changes

Contribute to playbooks with standardized tools and templates, and knowledge collateral.

Collaborate with the Procurement COE on user training and procurement best practices  

Compliance and Governance:

Monitor and enforce procurement policies, procedures, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

Collaborate with business stakeholders to align on strategic compliance and risk management actions.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent experience

3-7 years of procurement experience, including contract management, strategic sourcing, background preferably in software, hardware and professional/consulting services

Strong experience in contract negotiation and lifecycle management

Proven ability to manage key suppliers and their associated risks

Basic experience with category management, spend analytics, operational metrics and common procurement tools (Zylo, Coupa, Zip, DocuSign, etc)

Experience working with legal teams/functions

Experience conducting Contracts reviews - SOWs, MSAs, Order Forms

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Proficiency with procurement tools such as Coupa, Oracle, Google Workspace, Zip, and Zylo preferred
