The Sourcing Engineer is responsible for the negotiation and management of select commodities and meeting Global Sourcing savings targets as well as serving as an escalation path for delivery, quality, and supplier management issues. 

Responsibilities to include defining savings opportunities, cost savings workbooks, leading savings projects to completion, working closely with Product Development on new projects to deliver new supplier relationships, technologies, or co-development solutions.

This position reports to the Sourcing Manager and is part of Supply Chain and Logistics located in San Jose, CA. The position will be an on-site role.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

Evaluate and select new suppliers along with Engineering, Quality and Regulatory to select strategic partners worldwide.Ownership of sustaining or creating positive relationships between Molecular Devices and its suppliers, leading to best cost, quality, delivery, and service.Support operations procurement teams to deploy global sourcing strategy and help resolve parts supply or quality issues.

The essential requirements of the job include:

Bachelor’s degree or above in Supply Chain, Engineering, or related fieldProven work experience as a Sourcing Engineer.Experience in lean manufacturing and awareness of lean tools desirable (e.g., 5S, Standard Work, KANBAN, Policy Deployment, Value Stream Management, Visual Management)Good negotiator and decision maker; strong analytical skills, uses of data to drive decisions.Strong project management and leadership skills

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements: if applicable for role

Ability to travel – 10% - 20% domestic travel and international travel is possible (China/EU).

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

ERP, PLM systems, Oracle EPM, 3DS, and Enovia

The annual salary range for this role is $90,000 – $115,000. This is the range that we believe in good faith is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
