Novant Health is seeking a Sonographer I who will play an essential role in delivering high-quality diagnostic imaging. This position supports physicians by preparing patients, operating ultrasound equipment, and producing accurate diagnostic images that guide clinical decisions.
What You’ll Do
+ Prepare patients for ultrasound procedures and ensure comfort, safety, and clear communication throughout the exam.
+ Perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound scans using established protocols while optimizing technical factors for accuracy and patient safety.
+ Demonstrate strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
+ Modify care appropriately based on patient age, condition, and abilities.
+ Receive, interpret, document, and verify electronic, written, and verbal orders.
+ Evaluate images for quality, proper labeling, and accurate patient identification.
+ Ensure timely transfer of images and relevant clinical information to interpreting providers.
+ Identify, prepare, and administer contrast media or medications as prescribed; perform venipuncture when required.
+ Utilize EMR, RIS, and PACS systems efficiently and accurately.
QualificationsEducation
+ Graduate of an ARRT-approved Radiography or Sonography Program; or a CAAHEP-accredited Sonography Program — Required
+ Associate Degree — Preferred
Experience
+ 1 year of sonography experience — Preferred
+ Must meet Life Support Training requirements per policy NH-HR-3096.
Licensure / Certification
Varies by location; all routes require certification and registration in Sonography (ARRT RT(S) or ARDMS):
+ Medical Center: RT(S) or ARDMS certification required within 6 months of hire
+ IDTF / Hospital Outpatient: RT(S) or ARDMS — Required
+ Medical Group Office: RT(S) or ARDMS — Required
