Core Brokerage Services Engineering (CBSE) enables Schwab to fulfill its custodial and clearing obligations as a Broker-Dealer and enables clients to invest strategically and achieve their financial goals. The Solutions Architect is a key technical leader in the CBSE organization, ensuring that Schwab India software development and engineering teams coalesce with established and evolving technology governance, standards, practices, and strategy as well as regulatory standards and requirements. This role requires a strong background in leading end-to-end architecture direction for high-volume heterogenous technology platforms as well as hands-on experience throughout the software development lifecycle. Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with peer platform architects, enterprise architects, and software development and engineering teams to develop and maintain cohesive current and target state software architecture documents and reference implementationsBalance long-term thinking with crafting architecture increments that deliver business value near-term, guiding technical leads in creating these designsMentor software developers and engineers to leverage established patterns and software engineering best practices and adhere to policies and standardsChampion end-to-end observability, monitoring and alerting, adherence to service level indicators and objectives, and operational excellence (24x7 availability)Identify and address scalability, latency, resiliency, and performance improvement opportunitiesLead architecture strategy sessions and engage hands-on throughout the software delivery lifecycle to resolve challengesRemain informed on industry trends in financial technology and apply this knowledge to drive innovation within the organizationWhat you haveRequired Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field15+ years of hands-on full stack software development experience across diverse technologies such as .NET/C#, Java/Spring framework, COBOL, Python, RabbitMQ/Kafka/IBM MQ, SOAP/REST services, and modern front-end frameworks like Angular/ReactKnowledge of both SQL (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Cloud SQL, DB2) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Aerospike) with extensive experience in designing and optimizing data solutions5+ years hands-on expertise architecting, designing and integrating components, and implementing large-scale solutionsExperience architecting and building private and public cloud-based or cloud-ready applications (e.g., PCF, GCP)Proven ability to handle fast-paced agile delivery environment, prioritize competing deadlines, and contribute to multiple initiatives simultaneouslyExcellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrable ability to help others visualize application design and system integration patternsDemonstratable proficiency in business analysis, problem-solving, critical thinking, and troubleshooting skillsWhat’s in it for you
