What you'll be doing

As a member of the CIBC’s Technology Architecture team, the Solution Architect, is professional responsible for collaborating with CIBC business and technology partners to understand business objectives and guide technology decisions as well as develop a practical architecture solutions aligned with CIBC’s technology standards and vision, through employing your leadership, communication and negotiation skills. It requires good knowledge and understanding of technical trends, directions, architecture principles and best practices. 

The role calls for a professional responsible for providing consulting, architecture thought leadership, strategy, and governance for the PBB and/or Capital Markets portfolio. The role leads and directs the development and implementation of architecture solutions and strategies aligned with CIBC’s business and technology vision, including enterprise technology frameworks, principles and polices. The role involves applying leadership capabilities and technical expertise to effectively collaborate with CIBC technical and business leaders/team and vendors to guide/develop strategic solutions. The role drives innovation across all areas of responsibility while applying expert interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role you’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

Client engagement – Work with CIBC technology and business leaders to understand business priorities and evolve business and technology strategy, provide thought leadership and consulting services while business team is exploring  key capabilities.  Work with delivery leaders and team member to develop an architecture aligned with the business strategy while ensuring compliance factors are taken into consideration.   Progress the architecture development processes through the CIBC architecture governance and control management processes.

Relationship Management – Develop relationships with business, technology and vendor teams within and outside CIBC and ensure to continuously evolve your industry expertise and support your client effectively.  It is important that you continue grow your network, deepen relationships, and collaborate with others to ensure you develop the business and technology knowledge and support the client.

Oral Communications - Ability to express oneself and effectively communicate with others.  recognizing that verbal communication is more than just language - it includes tone, style and structure.

Creative & Innovative Thinking - Able to see things in different perspectives and looks for potential solutions that meet the objectives but have an open mind about what is possible.

Lead Architecture Development - as a lead  architect, within the prescribed portfolio of projects/initiatives, act as an internal consultant to ensure each solution meets the technical standards, guiding principles and architectural practices that CIBC employs to create an extraordinary client experience.

Balance competing interests between the delivery constraints (time and money) with sustainable solutions designed for our modern consumers.

Stay Current - you are on top of evolving industry that influence the outcome of our business. Remain vigilant about evolving technologies and promote the evolution of our design practice.

Managing Relationships - Work closely with project teams, executives,  stakeholders, and business partners to provide thought leadership, and develop architecture solutions aligned with CIBC business objectives while leveraging approved set of technologies.

Moderate the Solution Creation Process - Lead, facilitate and coordinate the solution design, including ensuring alignment across multiple architects and lines of business.

Who you are

You have 2-5 years of demonstrated experience in technical architecture and/or solution design,  consulting, and business or technology stakeholder management.

You have highly developed analytical skills. You adept at developing efficient and effective solutions to diverse and complex problems.

You can demonstrate experience in: Working with business and technology partners to architect solutions  through applying expert knowledge and best practices. Having an Enterprise Architecture Background would be an asset; preferably in the financial or regulatory sector and knowledge of  architecture practices focusing on the emerging technologies.

You are a Certified Professional. Rounding out your experience with a familiarity with TOGAF and/or Zachman frameworks and methodologies and SOA Architecture will be an asset.
