Job Summary


We are seeking a skilled Solution Lead - SAP Sales & Distribution to join OTC-Machine Orders SAP&CMOPS -CAT IT Division

Caterpillar is seeking a highly qualified SAP Sales and Distribution (SD) Solution Lead to join our Order to Cash (OTC) team. This individual will play a pivotal role in implementing technical solutions that align with our evolving business objectives and support strategic growth initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in SAP SD, demonstrated experience leading complex solution designs, and successful implementation of intricate order scenarios and pricing procedures.

This position requires effective leadership within a global, collaborative environment, working closely with other OTC Solution Leads, functional leads, technical programmers, and various IT teams. Acting as both a strategic advisor and partner to multiple business units, the Solution Lead will be responsible for gathering requirements, developing tailored solutions, preparing project cost estimates, and overseeing project deployments and enhancements.

The role often involves addressing unique and complex challenges, necessitating strong analytical skills and innovative approaches. The incumbent may be required to adapt existing processes or develop new methodologies based on a comprehensive understanding of business operations and unit-specific needs. Additionally, this role is accountable for establishing, implementing, and monitoring policies and guidelines to ensure projects meet management objectives and deliver desired outcomes. As an advisor and consultant, the Solution Lead will also support groups in achieving quality improvements as specified by key performance measures.

The preference for this role is to be based out of Whitefield Office, Bangalore, India

What you will do

Deliver SAP SD/OTC solutions aligned to enterprise templates and business objectives.Offer expert guidance to SAP SD/OTC support teams and integration partners.Analyze, document, and revise business processes and system logic as needed.Collaborate with business partners to understand operations and benchmark best practices.Advise on business case analysis and multi-generational product planning.Design business processes that support Caterpillar's strategic goals.Provide recommendations to Process Owners and serve as a subject matter consultant.Lead and drive complex solution implementations and provide project leadership.Create high-level test plans to ensure quality and efficiency.Oversee User Acceptance Testing and script sign-off for key releases.Build strong stakeholder relationships through effective communication and leadership.Identify opportunities, assess risks, and ensure alignment with strategic outcomes.Design and configure pricing procedures, including condition tables and types.

Core Application Systems: Extensive knowledge of major production application systems used for delivery of services to internal and external clients; ability to leverage major production application systems in diverse situations.Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Extensive knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.Products and Services: Working knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.Analytical Thinking: Expert knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.Application Delivery Process: Extensive knowledge of major tasks, deliverables, and formal application delivery methodologies; ability to utilize these to deliver new or enhanced applications.Architecture Modeling: Working knowledge of Architecture Modeling; ability to develop and modify enterprise architecture through conceptual, logical and physical approaches.Information Security Technologies: Basic knowledge of technologies and technology-based solutions dealing with information security issues; ability to protect information security across the organization using encryption technologies and appropriate security software.System and Technology Integration: Expert knowledge of the features and facilities of systems; ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

Four-year bachelor’s degree preferably in computer science, information systems, engineering, or related field. 15+ years of SAP IT experience.  Demonstrated leadership in large-scale ERP implementations and transformations.Proficient in integration technologies such as Snap Logic or API’s.Exceptional presentation, oral, and written communication abilities. Extensive experience designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining software at scale.Recognized as an expert level SAP SD functional consultant with comprehensive knowledge of invoicing, pricing procedures, sales order conversions, loan processes, system configuration (SPRO), and interface management.Adept at collaborating with business partners to translate requirements into detailed functional designs & specifications.Highly skilled in complex problem-solving and excelling in dynamic, fast-paced environments.Knowledge of Caterpillar dealer network, facilities, product structure, and machine ordering landscape and logisticsSAP Certified Associate - SalesExperience with brownfield uplift from ECC to S4/HANAThis position requires candidate to work a 5-day -a -week schedule in the officeThis position may require 10% travel.
