GENERAL FUNCTION:
Design and implement technology solutions using modern engineering tools and Agile practices. Work with self-directed, cross-functional, and product-oriented teams in a highly collaborative environment. Deliver some of the bank's most important products and services while developing skills and experience well beyond your initial role.
The Distinguished Software Engineer is a technical expert in one or more domains and a thought leader that acts as a catalyst to accelerate the adoption of the very best engineering practices across the company. They maintain knowledge of (and may even contribute to) industry innovations, trends, and best practices. They work on some of the organization’s most difficult problems, coach and mentor other members of the company’s engineering community, and help to define roadmaps for delivering next generation technology solutions that span organizational boundaries. They can work as a member of an Agile team, in a consultative / supporting role across many teams, or in a more strategic role helping to shape the future of technology and innovation within the company.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technology field or equivalent combination of education and work experience10+ years of engineering or other IT work experience relevant to the positionExperience working with third party commercial off the shelf and internally built applicationsDeep understanding of reactive architecture principles and familiarity with micro-service oriented architectureUnderstanding of decentralized and asynchronous data flows and related tools, modern warehousing best practices, and the data security as a fundamental aspect of data movementExperience with container hosted application footprints in hybrid cloud/on-premise environmentsOutstanding problem-solving and communication skillsWillingness to work in a highly-collaborative environment spanning multiple departments and squadsDeep understanding of IT security best practicesExperience in banking or financial services industryExperience analyzing legacy platforms, documenting current state tech stack and process flows, and translating optimized business processes into modern technical architecturesExperience designing, implementing, and supporting complex technical solutionsAble to provide technical coaching and guidance to junior engineers4 to 6 years experience in Java development4 to 6 years experience with Spring framework4 to 6 years with RESTful API development and back end for front ends4 to 6 years experience in micro-service oriented architecture and event driven design1 to 2 years experience working with agile/scrum teamsPrior experience with Git, GitHub, Jenkins and JFrogExperience with core banking platforms (deposit systems, debit card processing, ATM, check processing or client billing) is a plusThis position is based in Cincinnati, Ohio and has an on-site requirement.
