About the Location

Collaborative Work Environment:
At PetSmart, teamwork and connection are core to how we thrive. This role is based at our Phoenix Home Office, with an expectation of working a minimum of four days in the office each week. In a standard work week, associates may work up to one remote “flex day” (with leader approval). Our hybrid approach is designed to foster strong collaboration while also supporting flexibility and individual success.

Role Summary

PetSmart is seeking a Solutions Architect with 5–7 years of experience designing and delivering enterprise application solutions within a retail, omni-channel environment. This role is responsible for translating complex business needs into scalable, secure, and resilient technical architectures, with a strong focus on order management, fulfillment, pricing, inventory, replenishment, and enterprise integrations.

Key ResponsibilitiesDesign end-to-end enterprise application solutions supporting PetSmart’s retail and omni-channel business capabilitiesArchitect solutions supporting order management, fulfillment, retail pricing and promotions, replenishment, and in-store inventory managementTranslate business and functional requirements into solution designs, architecture diagrams, and technical specificationsDefine target-state and transition architectures aligned with PetSmart’s enterprise roadmaps and business strategyEvaluate and recommend technology solutions, balancing SaaS capabilities, configuration, and custom developmentEnsure solutions meet enterprise non-functional requirements including performance, scalability, security, availability, resiliency, and supportabilityCreate and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical architecture views; document architecture decisions, constraints, and tradeoffsPartner with Enterprise Architecture, Security, Operations, and DevOps teams to ensure alignment with standards and operational readinessIdentify architectural risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs; evaluate alternative solutions and recommend optimal paths forwardPartner with Enterprise Architecture to ensure solution designs consistently adopt enterprise standards, patterns, and architectural guardrailsRequired Qualifications5–7 years of experience in Solution Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, or Senior Technical Design rolesRetail industry experience supporting omni-channel or multi-channel commerce environmentsStrong experience with enterprise integrations and distributed systemsAbility to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders
