We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Solution Architect to lead the architectural vision and technical strategy for PMI’s e-commerce platforms, with a strong focus on the Shopify ecosystem, agentic/AI-driven commerce, and modern composable architectures. This role is ideal for an architect who is deeply fluent in the Shopify technology stack, understands the evolving AI landscape in commerce, and can drive scalable, business-centric solutions. This role is for people that look to expand their deep vertical knowledge and expand horizontally across broader digital commerce ecosystem that spans across channels and enabling capabilities.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY
· Partner with Product Owners and Delivery Managers to define product vision and guide teams toward delivering measurable customer value.
· Translate complex and evolving business requirements into robust, scalable, and high-performance e-commerce architectures, focusing primarily on Shopify and complementary technologies.
· Own and evolve the application architecture to ensure scalability, maintainability, extensibility, and operational excellence.
· Identify and influence adjacent product roadmaps that either benefit your vertical directly or enable it to achieve added value.
· Assess the current system landscape, identify gaps, and propose forward-thinking architectural strategies.
· Lead and coordinate Proof-of-Concept (PoC) initiatives across engineering teams to validate new solution patterns, including AI-augmented commerce experiences.
· Identify and refine non-functional requirements, including performance, security, observability, and reliability.
· Collaborate closely with engineering, product, data, and marketing stakeholders to drive new initiatives and platform evolutions.
· Validate and approve architectural changes proposed by business stakeholders, business analysts, and development teams.
· Maintain architectural documentation and ensure a shared understanding across engineering squads.
· Provide performance modeling, technical backlogs, and architectural blueprints for scoped applications.
· Identify improvement opportunities and advise Product Owners on roadmap evolution.
· Deliver integration artifacts for 3rd-party systems, covering Application Architecture, Technical Architecture, and Solution Designs.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Must-Have Qualifications
· Deep technical background in application engineering, integration, and solution design. · 5+ years of experience in the e-commerce domain, preferably with multi-region deployments, and 3+ years of experience as a Solution Architect.
· Strong expertise in the Shopify stack and ecosystem, such as Liquid, Hydrogen, Shopify Functions, Checkout Extensibility, and plus-certified capabilities.
· Proven experience with Shopify integrations & plugins, middleware patterns, composable commerce setups, and event-driven architectures.
· AI knowledge, particularly around Agentic Commerce patterns (e.g., autonomous agents, AI shopping assistants, AI-driven personalization).
· Applied experience designing or integrating AI-driven customer journeys, including recommendation engines, LLM-powered assistants, or workflow agents.
Should-Have Qualifications
· Frontend expertise (e.g., React, Next.js, or Shopify Hydrogen).
· Experience designing or guiding headless frontend implementations.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications
· Exposure to Sprinklr or adjacent CX/marketing automation platforms.
· Knowledge of Content Supply Chain processes, platforms, and automation patterns (DAM, PIM, workflow orchestrators, content generation).
· Experience with AWS services and cloud-native architectures.
· Familiarity with other e-commerce or ERP integrations (e.g., SAP, order orchestration systems).
· Experience with APM tooling for E2E tracing.
