Solid Waste Project Manager
Job Description Our client is seeking a Design Engineer and/or Project Manager to support solid waste management projects throughout South Florida. This hybrid position offers flexibility to work from either the West Palm Beach or Coconut Creek office. The ideal candidate is a collaborative professional with a strong desire for growth and development. The role includes serving as the Engineer of Record for various public and private projects focused on solid waste infrastructure, such as landfill gas systems, composting facilities, and landfill design. Responsibilities encompass engineering calculations, technical reports, permit applications, and design drawings. Work will be a mix of office-based tasks—like CAD drafting, report writing, and preparing site plans and diagrams—and fieldwork that involves site surveys, inspections, and construction quality assurance across varied terrain and weather conditions. You’ll coordinate closely with clients and internal teams while managing engineering design tasks and staff development. Additional responsibilities include business development efforts, such as preparing proposals, attending trade shows, and participating in client meetings. Most work is performed independently, though guidance and approval are available for complex challenges or project planning. You’ll also represent the company at meetings and conferences, applying advanced engineering and scientific principles to impactful solid waste solutions. Apply a broad and intensive knowledge of engineering and scientific principles to solid waste projects and related fields Prepare detailed engineering calculations, design drawings, technical reports, and permit applications Independently solve engineering and scientific problems, plan and coordinate project work, and represent the organization at meetings and industry events Conduct fieldwork in varied terrain and weather conditions, including site surveys, data collection, CQA liner installations, and inspections Perform office-based tasks such as CAD drafting, mathematical analyses, report writing, permit documentation, and creation of site plans and facility diagrams Support business development through proposal preparation, client engagement, and attendance at relevant conferences and trade shows Receive technical guidance on complex or unfamiliar challenges and obtain supervisory approval for proposed plans or major project decisions We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. Skills and Requirements Must Haves: Bachelors degree in Civil, Environmental, or Geotechnical Engineering Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in the solid waste, landfill, air compliance, and landfill design and permitting etc. Willing to test for EIT within 6 months of starting - Engineer in Training (EIT) - Professional Engineer (PE)
