Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Software Test Engineer II and contribute to ensuring the quality and reliability of our advanced software solutions. You'll work on sophisticated applications that control our analytical instruments, specifically electron microscopes focused on life sciences. As part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team, you'll work with developers, scientists, system engineers, and stakeholders to validate software that enables groundbreaking research and innovation. Your work will directly impact scientific discoveries in fields like cancer research, drug development, and semiconductor manufacturing.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform regression testing of electron microscope functions
• Test software developed to control the microscopes
• Use a bug tracking system to report found bugs and failures
• Use a test management system to plan, complete, and record tests and results
• Collaborate with your team to plan and complete features for new products
REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's Degree plus 2 years of experience in software testing
• Preferred Fields of Study: Computer Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Bioinformatics, or related technical/scientific field
• Experience with agile methodologies and tools (JIRA, TestRail)
• Knowledge of software testing methodologies and best practices
• Ability to write clear, comprehensive test plans, cases, and documentation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Experience working in cross-functional, global teams
• Knowledge of Windows operating systems and IT fundamentals
• Ability to identify, reproduce, and clearly document software defects
• Strong attention to detail and quality focus
DESIRED (not required) SKILLS:
• Knowledge of test automation tools and frameworks (Selenium, Robot Framework, or similar)
• Experience with version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools (Jenkins, Azure DevOps, GitLab)
• Programming skills in one or more languages: Python, C#, ...
• Experience with VMware and Macrium
