Request Summary:
Worlds Development Support
The Development Support team member works with development teams to provide early testing documentation creation e.g. test cases and test briefs QA Confluence pages and handles basically anything that could potentially keep a Core QA team member out of the game. They provide feedback to the QA Leads on the health of their area/features and to the development team on the testing of their area/features. They are the primary contact for our QA team fielding design questions from Core QA and are the initial development teams first point of contact for asks on the status of testing or to adjust the testing Core QA needs to complete.
Requirements:
- Multiple development cycles experience with a focus on Environments
- Demonstrated understanding of:
o Cover Functionality Testing:
Cover is present functional and appropriately placed within levels to support all player cover actions e.g. vaulting peeking and shooting.
Cover placements that negatively affect gameplay such as blocking player movement or obstructing sightlines.
o Collision Geometry Testing:
Gaps seams and holes in the geometry of levels that may lead to visual or gameplay problems.
Floating or misplaced environment geometry and props ensuring all elements sit properly within the level.
o Navmesh Testing:
navmesh areas are correct and complete ensuring smooth pathfinding for AI and NPCs within the level.
o Asset Testing:
Static and animated assets e.g. vehicles dumpsters logs rocks etc. for proper placement and functionality within the level.
o Set Dressing Environment Testing:
Set dressing elements like grass flowers bushes and other environmental details are correctly placed and behave as intended.
Problems related to incorrect material tagging such as missing or incorrect sounds e.g. footsteps on the wrong surface type.
o Text and Signage Testing:
Placeholder text or signage issues such as hot pink textures or lorem ipsum text ensuring all content is final and appropriate.
o LOD Texture Quality Testing:
Issues related to Level of Detail LOD transitions including popping or visual inconsistencies.
Texture-related issues such as seams missing textures blurry textures or incorrectly scaled textures.
o Lighting Shadows Testing:
lighting issues such as seams missing lights or black spots within levels.
Shadows and lighting effects interact correctly with the environment including checking for incorrect intensity color or positioning of lights.
o Content Load VFX Quality Testing:
Content loads properly and without errors during gameplay including textures models and effects.
VFX Issues such as incomplete or partial effects sparks smoke snowfall etc. in static or animated assets.
o Vista Testing:
Free from white or pixelated borders and low-resolution textures.
Meshes and geometry do not clip into vistas or obstruct the players view of distant scenes.
- Experience writing testing instructions or briefs.
- Experience estimating testing efforts.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and develop/refine skills.
- Detailed documentation and organization skills.
- Clear and concise communication skills comfortable interfacing with QA and Production teams.

- Unreal Engine experience
- Jira Confluence Perforce and SharePoint experience
- Adaptable teaching skills teaching to lots of different types of learners
- Familiarity with the Gears of War series.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00/hr.
