Software Quality Engineer I

MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE 

We are seeking a high caliber Software Quality Engineer supporting the design and development of company products (mainly mobile apps), software reliability, developing and maintaining processes and procedures, and assuring adherence to the software development lifecycle across Abbott.  They will be responsible for maintaining a strong collaborative partnership with cross-functional team members that facilitates organizational success by protecting patient/user safety and meeting business needs. 

What You’ll Do
 Execute and support on-time completion of Quality Engineering deliverables: test plans (manual an automated), test scripts (manual and automated), test reportsManage test planning and execution efforts by a combined, team of testers located onsite and/or offshoreDesign and develop test automation frameworks, as needed (mostly for web and mobile applications)Gain familiarity with testing methodology, processes, tools, templates, environment, and work with cross functional teams to complete tasks assignedExplain the testing methodology, processes, tools, templates, environment, and concepts to the team members, and cross-functional teams at largeCreate and manage testing schedule and work planCoordinate test planning effortsSupport on-time execution of Quality PlansTrain to development and documentation of standard operating procedures, specifications and test proceduresDesign Verification and Validation test planning & execution, including active cross-functional root-cause analysis investigation & resolution activities (using manual test cases, or developing test automation scripts)Participate in reviews for System and Software requirements, Software and Firmware design, and code inspection, using static testing and TDD practicesReviews test protocols and test results provided by another functional group.Support product Risk Management activitiesBring forth ideas and implement quality tools that improve the software design reviews.Bring forth ideas and implement testing tools that improve the software testing lifecycle.Ensure DHF content completion, integrity, and regulatory & standards compliance; collaboratively communicating & resolving gapsSupport internal & external audit and related responsesSupport the establishment of objective, measurable and verifiable customer and product requirementsComplete Document Change Request Reviews in a timely and objective mannerAdditional duties may be identified by functional management based on the current project/business objectives.Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.Complies with U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations, other regulatory requirements, Company policies, operating procedures, processes, and task assignments. Maintains positive and cooperative communications and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.Performs other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRINGBachelor level degree in Computer science, software engineering or a closely related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.Minimum of 2-5+ years of combined experience in software development, web-based, client-server, and/or embedded systems applicationsMinimum 2-5+ years of combined experience in software testing and verification/validation.Experience developing automation frameworks and scripts using Selenium, and/or Appium, UFT, etc.Programming experience in C/C#/Visual Studio/Java, Scripting Language such as Python, Ruby, PerlExperience with software configuration, and issue tracking tools such as GIT, Jira, Subversion, ClearQuest, Doors, Bugzilla.Experience using overall test management tools such as Microfocus ALM, Zephyr, TestComplete.Experience in code review/static analysis tool(s) to aide code review such as Code Collaborator, Coverity, Parasoft DTExperience as team-member in Agile SDLC projects/programsknowledge of various types of SDLC’s and TLC’s (V-Model, Iterative, Agile/Scrum, etc.)Working experience in behavior-driven testing and scripting using cucumber or behave.Experience in automated test execution and coordination, using Selenium and Appium.Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects.Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

Preferred ExperienceWorking in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model.Working experience in mobile test automation tools (e.g. Perfecto, MobileLabs)

The base pay for this position is $73,900.00 – $116,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
