Software Quality Engineer – Aviation Industry Leader
Location: Fort Worth, TX | Schedule: 9/80A (6:00 AM – 3:30 PM) | Duration: 12 Months | Hours/Week: 40
Pay: $59.09 – $88.64/hr (based on experience)
PDS Tech Commercial, in partnership with a world-class aviation leader, is seeking a highly experienced Software Quality Engineer. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring mission-critical aircraft software meets the highest standards of safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance. You’ll work across the development lifecycle—driving quality from requirements through delivery—and directly shaping the future of aviation systems.
Key ResponsibilitiesMonitor and evaluate each phase of the software development process to ensure compliance with company, customer, and regulatory standards.
Partner with systems, software, and test teams as well as project managers to align on quality and compliance objectives.
Review and approve requirements, design documents, test procedures, and results for adherence to industry standards and internal processes.
Actively participate in software change control boards and process audits, including supplier reviews.
Provide technical leadership by mentoring junior engineers and promoting best practices.
Support program milestones, risk management efforts, and customer audits with timely expertise.
Moderate travel may be required to support audits and supplier engagements.
Required Qualifications11+ years of aerospace/defense industry experience with software quality processes (RTCA DO-178, DO-254, ARP-4754, MIL-STD-498, etc.).
Strong background in software requirements, design, coding (C/C++, Ada, or embedded languages), and verification methods.
Familiarity with FAA projects and government customer programs strongly preferred.
Proven ability to apply audit techniques and evaluate compliance across development and test activities.
Proficiency in interpreting blueprints, specifications, and contracts.
Excellent communication skills—written, oral, presentation, and technical writing.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
BS degree required in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
