Mobile Quality Lab in Samsung Electronics Canada is responsible for the quality control of all mobile products launched in the Canadian market. The Software Quality Assurance Professional II, will lead a team of Field QA Engineers set quality standards for new and existing technologies, while designing and conducting the tests that guarantee compliance with all customer, carrier, and regulatory requirements. This position will interface with cross-functional teams and operators to provide engineering support for new wireless product development and the validation of new features and technologies, spanning from initial stage, to the lab entry phase, through product launch.

Role and Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leading R&D to implement new standards and specification related changes and/or carrier specific requirementsPropose new ideas and enhancements to SECA field operations and communicate with headquarters for various related features and issuesThis role conducts intermediate technical analysis of customer requirements and creates, evaluates, and develops implementation concepts / approaches to meet customer requirementsWorks independently, and may function as a team lead as needed. Determines approach to work, and is monitored/supervised based more on milestone basis, and at key deliverable juncturesIdentify the required documentation and process for the project, lead in creation of design requirements. Assist & lead in analyzing test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications. Collaborate with other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software products. Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specificationsAchieves operational objectives by contributing information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; resolving problems; completing audits; identifying trends; determining system improvements; implementing changeTranslation of complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design. Responsible for the over-all systems architecture, scalability, reliability, and performanceMaintaining & mentoring current technical knowledge to support rapidly changing technology. Candidate must be able to work with a minimum of technical supervision and supplemental engineering supportUse technical engineering knowledge and experience to understand customer applications, test cases, and requirements.  Interworking capability with teams in different time zones.Diagnose Protocol and System level issues from the carriers, screen through and debug issues reported from carrier, and oversee IOT and field test by doing in-depth log analysisWill Manage & train QA Engineers and 3rd party Engineers to perform required test itemsMentor fellow engineers to provide 1 on 1 training in the field (technical, process)Create / update technical, test process, work process documents

Skills and Qualifications

Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Network Communication, Computer/Electrical Engineering or Related Field

Knowledge:

Strong work level understanding of SDLC and STLCStrong Knowledge of Network communications, 3GPP, GSMA –IR.92, IR.94 standards, IMS, SIP, SDP, RTP, RTCP protocols, TCP/IP networkingDemonstrate strong Tool knowledge in QXDM, QCAT, QPST, QMICM, NNEXT, SHANNON DM, N-Trace, Mobile Analyzer, Artemis, Debug Mux, Spy Tracer, Odin, XCAL, Mobile Datum, PC Datum, Wire sharkStrong understanding of Mobile Technologies in 3G/4GUnderstanding of 5G Technologies and Architectures: NSA, SA, Sub6, mmWvae, NRCA, VoNR, EPSFB, gNB, AMF, SMF, UDM, AUSF, UPFExcellent verbal and written communication skills.  Proven track record on delivering results, especially in the area of writing high-performance, reliable and maintainable code.

Experience:

4+ years of technical or telecommunications engineering related experiences in mobile phone/tablet or related industry

Preferred Qualifications:

Core competencies in Java and/or C#, also Familiarity with scripting languages such as Python to Write Test automation code using Eclipse, Android Studio and Visual Studio.Ability to work well in a team environment and be able to effectively drive cross-team solutions that have complex dependencies and requirementsPerforms work under time schedules and stress which are normally periodic or cyclical, including time sensitive deadlines, intellectual challenge, some language barriers, and project management deadlinesUse field test engineering skills and knowledge to test and evaluate new Wireless Products including the verification of product performance of satellite, indoor, and sensor-based positioning in GSM/UMTS/LTE networkRead, interpret and act on very high level of proper understanding of technical documents, engineering test materials and related documents based on corporate engineering standards and philosophySkills and knowledge to test and evaluate new Wireless Products, including the verification of product features by simulation and/or reproduction of errors and complaints of Wireless products from post launch issues.Mentoring fellow engineers in technique aspects of the work descriptionCreate & update high level documents, testing materials, and standardsManage timelines and scheduling for multiple models to ensure deadline & milestone achievementsUnderstanding of mobile service provide feature development and deployment process
