The Engineering & Sciences organization supporting the Advanced Navigators business area at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Software Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead based out of Woodland Hills, CA.
The Software IPT Lead is responsible for planning, budgeting, executing and progress reporting for a team of software, systems, and test engineers. The primary goal is the development of software for the latest M-code capable embedded GPS/Inertial Navigation System (EGI-M). The SW IPT Lead ensures the integrity of engineering processes, and timely development of software engineering work products to allow airworthiness certification. The SW IPT Lead will have Control Account Manager (CAM) responsibility, which comprises cost and schedule management for the SW work scope. The SW IPT Lead interfaces with the Program Manager, Chief Engineer, System Architect, other engineering team leads, as well as the customer.
What You’ll get to Do:
Serve as a cost account manager for the software engineering responsibilitiesOversee the planning and execution of some software functions for the EGI-M programSetup and conduct scrum-Agile ceremonies (PI planning, Sprint planning, sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives, PI reviews)Identify and mitigate execution risks to software development on the programDetermine the staffing needed to develop software and work with functional managers to adjust staffing within multiple scrum teamsPresent portion of the execution plan and progress to the customer community and senior leadershipCollect, manage and report the program metrics and Technical Performance Measures (TPMs)Coordinate between the System Architect, Chief Engineer, Systems Engineering Integration & Test Lead, program manager, and customer to ensure the integrity and executability of the program technical baselineAlign measurement objectives and activities to meet program performance goals and objectivesMinimum 10% travel to be expected (to customer, supplier, and other Northrop Grumman locations)Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Project Engineering, or related technical fields, a Master's degree with 6 years of experience, or PhD with 3 yearsRisk and Opportunity Management experienceKnowledge of Earned Value Management (EVM)Experience measuring software development progress against baseline estimatesExperience directing software development teamsExperience in software development, integration, and test Demonstrated exceptional communication skillsUS CitizenshipAbility to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret ClearanceAbility to work onsite full-time in Woodland Hills, CAPreferred Qualifications:
Cost Account Management (CAM) certification / experienceExperience managing an Agile software backlogExperience with JiraExperience developing cost and schedule estimates for software development of DoD or Commercial AvionicsExperience with DO-178C Safety Critical Software development processesExperience with DO-331 Model Based Software development processesKnowledge of Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs) or Navigation equations / processingExperience managing cost accounts of $10M+ annually in laborActive DoD Secret ClearancePrimary Level Salary Range: $137,400.00 - $206,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
