The Software Engineering Manager leads and inspires a multidisciplinary team of technology professionals to deliver robust, scalable, and secure data, cloud, and Business Intelligence solutions. This role is accountable for designing and implementing strategic cloud platforms and application frameworks, overseeing the full software development lifecycle—including development, testing, and deployment of API, UI, and data solutions—and ensuring adherence to best practices and high-quality standards. The manager drives continuous improvement, fosters innovation, and champions Agile methodologies to optimize team performance, resource allocation, and delivery timelines. Through strong leadership, technical expertise, and effective communication, the Software Engineering Manager enables the team to solve complex technical challenges and deliver value to the organization. _At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote._ **How You’ll Succeed** + **You will lead and inspire team** of 8-10 technology professionals including developers, testers, and analysts to solve complex data, cloud and Business Intelligence platforms and frameworks + **You will design and implement strategic cloud platforms** and application frameworks to support run and build for multiple technology development teams. + **You will oversee the development** , testing and implementation of API, UI and Data Solutions including ETL, Analytics, Data Quality and Lineage in a secure cloud environment. + **You will hold teams accountable** for quality of code, and achieving committed work within a sprint, release, or roadmap. + **You will lead code reviews to ensure** best practice coding processes. Mentoring developers on improvements + **You will define and manage** resource requirements and allocations, monitor and improve quality, and ensure 'best practice' development techniques. + **You will create better ways of solving** technical problems and not be afraid of challenging the status quo. Identify bottlenecks across SDLC, evaluate performance opportunities, and implement and manage Key Performance Indicators. + **You will work** to plan releases and release schedules. + **You will manage intake process** for application project estimates. + **You are a strong communicator** . Expert interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and problem-solving skills, including effective engagement with all levels of the organization, including senior management, board of directors and regulators. Proven leadership and management experience, with a track record of successfully leading Compliance teams. Facilitating brainstorming sessions, build consensus, and shepherd solutions through governance forums. + Successfully execute Agile Scrum practices including capacity estimation, story pointing, measuring/monitoring velocity, and leveraging ceremonies and practices accordingly. + Develop proofs of concept (PoC) as needed to evaluate product and technical strategies. **Who you are:** + **You have** 12-15 years of related experience OR Combination of education and experience, ideally within financial services or tech + 8+ years of experience as an Application Development Leader. + **Your influence makes an impact:** Ability to influence senior leadership and cross-functional teams, ability to set long-term strategic direction and solve high-level challenges that impact the organization as a whole. + Ability to solve high-level, complex problems impacting the organization. + **You have a** degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field or relevant certifications and/or completion of a relevant bootcamp with a minimum of 12 years of experience + **You ensure** comprehensive compliance with all relevant regulations within their area of responsibility; manage relationships with Compliance and Audit teams; oversee compliance adherence and reporting within their area. + **You are an SME in understanding of banking products** , services, and industry regulations; thorough understanding of current and emerging industry trends and developments; ability to shape departmental strategies using industry knowledge. + **You oversee risk management frameworks** , influence risk culture, and align risk management with strategic objectives. + **You give meaning to Data:** You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You communicate detailed information in a meaningful way, proficiency in the Data technology stack, including ETL, Azure SQL and REST APIs. + Proficiency in full stack.NET Application Development technologies such as UI, JavaScript, .NET, Java, T-SQL etc. + Exposure to Integration and BI Tools such as DataBricks Analytics, Tableau Cloud, Cognos, or Power BI + Solid experience with cloud technologies including Application Services, API Management, DataBricks, and Micro-Segmentation + Significant automation experience for minimizing manual processes + Able to document and tell a ‘story’ for a technical recommendation from framework to feature level + Outstanding DevOps practices for environment management and integrity, security, pipeline management, code integrity, compliance, release management + Solid execution of practices for Jira/Azure DevOps Taxonomies, Story Writing, Story Pointing, Velocity measurement California residents — your privacy rights regarding your actual or prospective employment (https://us.cibc.com/en/about-us/california-consumer-privacy-act-employment.html) _At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of_ **_$190,000.00 - $210,000.00_** _for the market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component.
