Position Overview: -
We are seeking an experienced RPG Developer to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in IBM i (AS/400) systems and RPG programming, with the ability to design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications. This role requires a mix of technical proficiency, problem-solving skills, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to support business-critical operations.
• Application Development: Design, develop, and maintain RPG programs on IBM i (AS/400) systems.
• Requirement Gathering: Work with business stakeholders to understand functional requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
• Integration: Develop interfaces with external systems, databases, and APIs.
• Optimization: Enhance performance, reliability, and scalability of RPG applications.
• Maintenance: Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues.
• Testing & Support: Conduct unit testing, support QA/UAT cycles, and provide production support.
• Documentation: Prepare technical documentation for applications and processes.
• Continuous Learning: Stay updated with IBM i technologies, modernization tools, and industry trends.
. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
. 4 years to 5 years of hands-on experience in RPG programming (RPG III/IV, RPGLE, Free RPG).
. Strong knowledge of IBM i (AS/400) environment, CL programming, and DB2/400.
. Experience with application integration, APIs, and modernization projects.
. Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile, Waterfall).
. Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills.
. Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
Preferred Skills
. Exposure to modernization tools (e.g., SQL, Java, .NET integration with IBM i).
. Knowledge of ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) is a plus.
. Experience in industries such as finance, manufacturing, logistics, or telecom.
. Ability to work independently and in global, cross-functional teams.
