The Red Hat OpenShift AI team is looking for a Machine Learning or Software Engineer with Kubernetes and MLOps (Machine Learning Operations) experience to join our rapidly growing engineering team. Our focus is to create a platform, partner ecosystem, and community by which enterprise customers can solve problems to accelerate business success using AI. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work within a talented team of engineers, contributing to Ray (https://ray.io) on OpenShift AI while helping the team to deliver on its vision and roadmap. **What you will do**
+ Innovate in the model training, fine tuning and data processing domain within OpenShift AI through the use of Ray components such as KubeRay (https://github.com/ray-project/kuberay) , Ray Train (https://docs.ray.io/en/latest/train/train.html) and Ray Data (https://docs.ray.io/en/latest/data/data.html)
+ Play a supporting role in the delivery of team roadmap features and initiatives
+ Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by sharing recommendations and technical knowledge with team members
+ Collaborate with other engineering and cross-functional teams to analyze and clarify business requirements
+ Communicate effectively to the team members to ensure proper visibility of development efforts
+ Give thoughtful and prompt code reviews
+ Ensure non-functional requirements including security, resiliency, and maintainability are met
+ Use CI/CD best practices to deliver solutions as productization efforts into OpenShift AI
**What you will bring**
+ Experience in **Kubernetes, OpenShift or other cloud-native technologies**
+ Ability to quickly learn and guide others on using new tools and technologies

+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills
+ A willingness to proactively utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) for code generation, auto-completion, and intelligent suggestions to accelerate development cycles and enhance code quality.
+ Open to exploring and experimenting with emerging AI technologies relevant to software development, proactively identifying opportunities to incorporate new AI capabilities into existing workflows and tooling.
**The following will be considered a plus:**
+ Experience working with Ray
+ While a Bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or a related discipline is valued, we prioritize practical experience and technical prowess
+ Machine Learning/Data Science experience
+ Understanding of how Open Source communities work
+ Experience with development for public cloud services (AWS, GCE, Azure)
+ Experience working with or deploying MLOps platforms
+ Experience with technologies and projects such as Kubeflow, Ray, Hugging Face, Llama Stack
+ Experience writing Kubernetes/OpenShift controllers and operators
+ Experience writing DSLs in Python or other languages
+ Experience with distributed systems (especially those that run on Kubernetes) and troubleshooting them
