Position Purpose:
As a Software Engineer Manager, you will be responsible for managing a team of functional configuration and software engineers that develops & manages software specifically for Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Warehouse Execution Systems (WES). This includes configuring Manhattan WMS, writing custom code to extend WMS, logic and execution related to automation including order streaming, goods-to-person, and task and labor optimization, ensuring effective integration between the two systems to enhance operational efficiency. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the products we create and help grow the next generation of engineering talent. In addition, you will be given the chance to work with our most strategic warehouse automation vendors to ensure that 3rd party tools and applications are readily available to all product teams that are interested in using them.
Key Responsibilities:
30% Delivery & Execution:
Collaborates and pairs with product team members (UX, engineering, and product management) to create secure, reliable, scalable software solutionsDocuments, reviews and ensures that all quality and change control standards are metWrites custom code or scripts to automate infrastructure, monitoring services, and test casesWorks with vendors and partners for the successful implementation of critical tooling and platformsCreates meaningful dashboards, logging, alerting, and responses to ensure that issues are captured and addressed proactivelyContributes to enterprise-wide tools to drive destructive testing, automation, and engineering empowermentEvaluates new technologies for adoption across the enterpriseParticipates in and leads review board sessions to drive consistency across the enterpriseFills in on product teams for engineers who are out of the officeExperience leveraging Agentic AI approaches to build autonomous workflows that improve warehouse efficiency, such as dynamic task allocation, order streaming, routing, and labor optimization.

Physical Requirements:
Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
Working Conditions:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
Minimum Qualifications:
Must be eighteen years of age or older.Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.Mastery of an object oriented programming language (preferably Java)Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
Preferred Qualifications:
5-7 years of relevant work experienceHas a deep understanding of warehousing and logistics and understands how their software impacts the performance and processes of the warehouse operations team. Deep experience in configuring Manhattan Associates WMOS (version 2019) and LMS. Experience in Warehouse Management Systems, leading teams to complete greenfield installations, upgrades, and enhancements for mechanized distribution centers. Experience developing custom software to extend WMS, sortation systems, merge systems, goods to person systems, order streaming/work release systems, and warehouse execution systems Experience applying Agentic AI frameworks (e.g., LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel) to orchestrate multi-step, autonomous workflows. Knowledge of reinforcement learning, planning algorithms, or autonomous agents for optimization in dynamic environments. Experience leading teams building AI copilots or autonomous task agents that improve engineering productivity or operational throughput.
