What You'll Do

As Software Engineer Manager, you will have overall technical responsibility for design, development and technical support of Meetings & Events applications. You will be part Enterprise Services Digital Products Portfolio and work with a team of internal and external developers, as well as a cross-functional team consisting of Project Managers, Business Analysts, & others to provide high quality applications which respond to and meet the business needs of the entire BCG organization. You will be expected to participate in hands-on development activities as well as providing technical guidance and oversight to successfully execute projects. Have overall responsibility for the health of our Meetings & Events applications, in terms of quality of the program code and operational effectiveness, from a technical

standpoint. A commitment to collaborative problem solving, sophisticated design, and the creation of quality products is also essential.



What You'll Bring

Education

College degree and 10+ years of experience in the development of business applications in a commercial IT setting, or in consulting

Experience/Knowledge

 

Primary skills

Strong experience building standards-compliant applications using .NET Core / ASP.NET Core (C#), including API development (REST)Strong experience with dbt (dbt Core/dbt Cloud): developing models, tests, macros, documentation, and CI-friendly workflows (e.g., incremental models, exposures, sources).Strong SQL skills and experience with a commercial RDBMS (SQL Server or Oracle) and modern data warehouse concepts; ability to debug queries and optimize data transformations.Strong experience with Git (branching strategies, PR reviews, resolving conflicts) and working in Agile delivery teams.Experience collaborating with and supporting external development providers/vendors/SaaS applications.Strong experience in working with Agile teams

Secondary skills

Experience with cloud-native development on AWS or Azure

Experience with Snowflake (warehousing, performance tuning, roles/permissions) is preferred—especially in conjunction with dbt.

Familiarity with web technologies: HTML, CSS, JavaScript (jQuery optional), JSON, XML.

Frontend exposure: React / Angular.

Experience in Docker Containerization Technologies is good to have



Additional info

YOU’RE GOOD AT

Design, develop, and maintain applications primarily using .NET Core / ASP.NET Core (APIs/services) and dbt (data transformation models, tests, documentation), with strong SQL across Oracle RDBMS / SQL Server (and exposure to Snowflake where applicable).

Set up and maintain integrations with SaaS / cloud-based applications, ensuring reliability, monitoring, and clear operational runbooks.

Build and implement SOA & microservices patterns using REST APIs, and queue-based messaging; exposure to MuleSoft/Kong is a plus.

Support data and platform security requirements including IAM concepts (authentication, authorization, role-based access).

Troubleshoot and resolve production issues/tickets with timely root-cause analysis; implement preventative fixes and reduce recurring incidents.

Partner with product owners/business analysts to understand requirements and deliver scalable, maintainable solutions with minimal technical debt.

Provide technical guidance to external developers, including code reviews, standards enforcement, and design oversight.

Stay current on tools, trends, and best practices; recommend improvements aligned to the IT roadmap and squad mission.

Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint planning, estimation, and delivery in an Agile environment.

Stay abreast of development tools, trends and practices, and act as an advocate and promoter for items that should be considered for future initiatives

Direct external developers, providing technical guidance and performing code reviews to ensure quality and adherence to group standards.

Keeping IT Roadmap in mind, being an IT thought partner to the business and creating highly scalable applications.

Keeping Technical Debt to the bare minimum.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate with product owners/ business analysts and understand requirements carefully and execute.
