Software Engineer (Java/Scala)

You will be a part of Splunk’s Lakehouse team and work with other team members to deliver new capabilities to our data platform, extending Splunk’s capability to search and analyze data wherever it resides.
**In this role, you will:**
+ Extend the Splunk platform to query new data lakes and provide further customer insights from their data
+ Write production-quality, high-performance distributed systems code
+ Build, test, operate and maintain customer-critical query functionality
+ Develop data platform applications and their service layer in cloud environments
+ Empower your ideas by proof-of-concept prototypes
+ Collaborate with engineers in the team to deliver efficient data processing capabilities
+ Innovate and contribute to the product roadmap
+ Be informed and creative – know about meaningful problems, devise new solutions
**Ideal Experience:**
+ 4+ years of experience in software development with a focus on backend systems
+ Strong Java, Scala or C++ skills with distributed systems design and knowledge of OO and functional programming practices
+ Experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) and IaC (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM)
+ Experience with CI/CD practices and container orchestration platforms
+ Passion for solving hard problems and exploring new technologies
+ Excellent team player with good communication and documentation skills
+ Experience with Apache Spark, Databricks, or similar high volume data technologies is a strong plus
**Education**
+ BS/MS in Computer Science, a related STEM field, or equivalent experience.
