Software Engineer III - Python/Automation/Production

As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Commercial & Investment Bank organization, you will be a seasoned member of an agile team, tasked with designing and delivering trusted, market-leading technology products that are secure, stable, and scalable. You will be responsible for implementing critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas, supporting various business functions to achieve the firm’s business objectives.

Job responsibilities

 

Develops and maintains Python scripts for automation and process improvementManages job scheduling, including dependency management between jobsMonitors and supports Unix and Windows operating systemsImplements and manages high-performance computing solutionsInitiates production monitoring and alerting systems, and is responsible for incident management, problem management, and knowledge management tasksUtilizes Unix shell programming for scripting and automation, automates tasks to reduce toil and improve efficiencyApplies middleware concepts and manage message queues and other messaging technologiesApplies database concepts, including DDL, DML, and DCLImplements Site Reliability Engineering concepts, including SLA, SLO, and SLIParticipates in Agile processes and contributes to CI/CD pipelinesManages code deployments using tools such as Jules/Jenkins and oversees the production environment using automation tools such as Ansible 

 

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experienceHands-on practical experience in system design, application development, testing, and operational stabilityOverall knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle and solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and SecurityHands-on experience with Python and Unix shell scriptingExperience with Unix and Windows operating systemsFamiliarity with middleware concepts and messaging technologiesKnowledge of database management and SQLSolid understanding of job scheduling and high-performance computingDemonstrated experience with stakeholder management and collaborating with global teamsincident and problem management skills and Agile project management practices

Expertise in source code management using tools such as Github

Familiarity with modern front-end technologiesExposure to cloud technologiesKnowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
