As a Back-end Software Engineer III, you will play a pivotal role in building AI-driven tools and services that ensure our customers and partners can develop and deploy software efficiently and securely on Guidewire’s Cloud Platform. We are seeking a proactive engineer with expertise in Java, Python, and AI-based code generation to help us accelerate the adoption of next-generation cloud and AI capabilities. Your work will directly contribute to Guidewire’s mission of delivering measurable value and success for our customers.

Job Description

What you’ll do

Design, develop, and maintain backend solutions for code analysis, remediation, and compliance with Guidewire’s Cloud Standards.

Build and enhance AI-based tools for autonomous coding and code generation, leveraging technologies such as Claude Code.

Integrate Guidewire and third-party software, ensuring seamless data processing and interoperability.

Develop and support web services that operate 24x7, processing structured data (JSON, XML) at scale.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable, and efficient cloud solutions.

Contribute to the adoption of advanced cloud services (AWS, Azure, etc.) and automation practices.

Write and maintain UNIX shell scripts to support operational excellence.

What you’ll bring

Required

Demonstrated ability to embrace AI and apply it to your current role as well as data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related STEM field, or equivalent experience.

5+ years of experience in software development, with strong programming skills in Java and Python.

Experience with agentic AI for autonomous coding (Claude Code, etc.).

Proficiency with structured data formats (JSON, XML).

Experience with at least one major cloud service provider (AWS, Azure, etc.).

Strong UNIX shell scripting skills (bash or similar).

Excellent communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a positive, can-do attitude.

Ability to defend ideas based on merit, while demonstrating humility and a hunger to learn from others.

Fluency in English (read, write, speak).
