As a **Software Engineer II** , you will build platform capabilities that integrate third‑party hardware and software products—including VMware, Nutanix, and NetApp—into the Azure Dedicated ecosystem. You will contribute to engineering execution across system architecture, service reliability, live‑site operations, and customer-focused quality. In this role, you will partner closely with teams across Azure Compute, Storage, Key Vault, and Azure Networking (including ExpressRoute) to solve complex distributed systems and networking challenges. You’ll also work on customer scenarios involving on‑premises application migration, hybrid solutions, and disaster recovery technologies such as Azure VMware Solution and Nutanix-based offerings. Relocation is not provided for this role. **Responsibilities** + Partner with stakeholders to understand and define user requirements for a set of features. + Contribute to identifying dependencies and developing design documents for a product area with minimal oversight. + Write and implement code for products, services, or features, reusing components where appropriate. + Support breaking down larger work items into smaller tasks and provide accurate estimates. + Serve as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), participating in on‑call rotations to monitor systems for degradation, downtime, or interruptions, and obtain approval to restore services for straightforward issues. + Maintain and grow technical expertise by staying current on developments that improve availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance, while promoting consistency in monitoring and operations at scale. **Other** + Embody our culture (https://careers.microsoft.com/v2/global/en/culture) and values (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/about/corporate-values) . **Qualifications** **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including (but not limited to) C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR equivalent experience. + 1+ year of experience analyzing and troubleshooting large‑scale distributed systems. Other Requirements + Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and/or government security screening requirements for this role. + Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This role requires passing the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. **Preferred Qualifications** + Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years of technical engineering experience with coding in languages including (but not limited to) C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or PythonOR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years of technical engineering experienceOR equivalent experience. Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
