This position supports the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Space Vehicles Directorate (ARFL/RV), the Air Force’s center of excellence for space research. AFRL/RV develops and transitions technologies that provide space-based capabilities to the nation. In this role, you will work with government and industry leaders to develop new modeling & simulation capabilities for space, driving critical analyses and investment decisions for pathfinding technologies.
Responsibilities will include:
Perform software design and development in C++Collaborate with customers and systems engineers and subject matter experts to develop, refine and translate requirementsResearch trends for various concept designs and translate to detailed software modelsProvide technical engineering support to analysis projectsConduct modeling and simulation (M&S) study and analysis supportAnalyze test data on various space systems, compare to M&S results, provide summary reportsSupport modeling and simulation for space systems (e.g., SATCOM, GPS and GNSS)Lead or manage aspects of or full projectsSolve complex problemsMeet regularly with customer, provide oral and written status on tasksRequired Experience
Bachelor's Degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math), Computer Engineering, Computer Sciences or other related degree1-3 years of programming experience with C++, Python, Matlab, and Visual Basic. Experience using AFSIM is highly desired.Some experience in system architecting, modeling, simulation, analysis, developing concepts, early systems engineering, and/or soliciting concepts from industry and stakeholdersAbility to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing to support acquisition documentation and effectively collaborate among the engineering team and management to achieve common project goalsAbility to build, integrate and troubleshoot software componentsAbility to take technical findings/data to generate analysis required to support informed decisionsPreferred Experience:
General knowledge of other software programming frameworks and databases and the ability to apply that knowledge to the software domainKnowledge of the Advanced Framework for Simulation, Integration and Modeling (AFSIM) for M&S effortsSome understanding of space-based assets, including satellite constellations, space-based radar, space weather, space ISR and GPS3-5 years of software engineering experienceExperience working with constructive mission simulationsExperience conducting modeling and simulation (M&S) study and analysis supportGeneral knowledge of real-time target environments, including processor and network architectures, communication protocols and exiting simulation framework design/useWorking knowledge of electronic warfare in a technical field such as aircraft, ship, missile, or space systemsMission Level Analysis derived from physics-based modeling and simulationExperience supporting system engineering and integration of concept development, systems design and architecture, modeling and simulation, engineering integration, test and evaluationAn active TS/SCI clearance is preferred.Ready to Make a Difference?
