**Overview**
This Software Engineer position is part of the Microsoft Teams VDI Engineering team, building the next generation of virtualization‑optimized collaboration experiences. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable, and secure Teams Calling and Meetings across virtual desktop environments such as Azure Virtual Desktop, Citrix, Omnissa, and other partner platforms.
You’ll work in a highly collaborative team that blends platform engineering, client performance, media optimization, and cross‑device reliability. The role spans everything from enhancing user‑facing calling and meeting experiences to improving low‑level platform integrations, deep diagnostics, and VDI‑specific performance tuning.

**Responsibilities**
+ Collaborate closely with international teams across Engineering, Design, Product, and Support to drive new feature development.
+ Demonstrate engineering excellence by writing code that is functional, well‑designed, testable, and easy to maintain.
+ Build and integrate automated quality checks, expand validation coverage, and ensure high end‑to‑end quality for user scenarios.
+ Take full end‑to‑end ownership of your code, components, and features throughout the software lifecycle, with a strong focus on solution quality, efficiency, and best‑practice engineering.
+ Show initiative and curiosity—be willing to dive into native code, explore unfamiliar areas, and learn new technologies to deliver features completely.
+ Analyze feature performance in production and use insights to iteratively improve the product experience.
+ Collaborate seamlessly with partner teams both locally and globally across Microsoft.
+ Contribute to mentorship, code reviews, and knowledge sharing to support the growth and technical excellence of the broader team
**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ Proficient in HTML/CSS, React, JavaScript/TypeScript, and GraphQL or similar technologies, with hands-on development experience.
+ Skilled in using analytics, instrumentation, and A/B testing to inform feature development and improve application performance.
+ Designed and delivered applications that are performant, reliable, accessible, and secure, with a strong focus on quality and user experience.
**Other Requirements:**
+ Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
**Microsoft Cloud Background Check** : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field with proven experience coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
+ OR equivalent experience.
