Department OverviewThe Core Platform and Services (CPS) team is responsible for the development and operations of critical cloud infrastructure and platform services, in support of Motorola Solutions public and hybrid cloud-based Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions for public safety customers. This team is part of Motorola Solutions Software Enterprise division, which offers secure, reliable and efficient team communications, workflow and operational intelligence solutions for mission critical public safety and enterprise markets throughout the world.
Job Description

The Core Platform and Services (CPS) team is responsible for:

Design and implementation of the continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipeline into multiple public cloud regionsDevelopment and operation of common platform services that can be leveraged by our SaaS solutions moving forwardOverall reliability and security of these services and the environments they are run inMonitoring and support for these platform and infrastructure services, as well as metrics collection and reporting related to them

As a Software Engineer on this team, you will be responsible to develop services, tools, and processes to support other Motorola Solutions' engineering teams as well as deliver solutions to our customers. You will be working on a high-velocity, results-oriented team that leverages cutting-edge technologies and techniques. The right individual will be motivated and will have a passion for automation, deployment processes and enabling innovation. Your efforts will help to shape the engineering culture and best practices across Motorola Solutions’  Video & Services organization.

Basic Requirements:
Responsibilities will include:

Aid the team in design, and development of custom software solutions utilizing the Elastic Stack and Kubernetes on Azure.Operation of an Elasticsearch cluster, Prometheus cluster  used by our services Working with fellow developers with automation tools and services to minimize delivery time and increase developer productivity.On-call work is required for services developed by the team

Qualifications:

Must have:

BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with 3+ years or 2+ years of professional experience respectivelyProven experience with Elastic, Prometheus, and other observability toolsStrong conceptual understanding of Kubernetes, Linux and docker fundamentalsProven track record of working with cloud native or enterprise grade monitoring systems (New Relic, Data dog, Dynatrace etc.)Strong understanding of cloud systems architecture and infrastructureExperience with scripting (e.g., Python, Bash)Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, Podman, MicroShift)Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work under pressureStrong communication and collaboration skillsExpertise in building high scale systemsStrong level of curiosity and interest to learn

Good to have:

Knowledge of security best practicesExperience with performance tuning and capacity planningGood understanding of CI/CD frameworksCertification in relevant observability toolsCertification in Kubernetes is a plus

Preferred Qualifications

A background in Linux/Unix AdministrationPrior experience being on-call for services developed by the teamDemonstrated experience developing and deploying services on Microsoft Azure
