The network engineering Tools and Automation squads are focused on driving automation, analytics and tooling into the greater organization to give the operation and deployment visibility and insights into the operations of the global network. This is an important technical role that will require participation in an evolving culture, designed to deliver software solutions from different teams into a continually available environment. Ultimately, your work will decide if code drops are ready to deploy to production and help ensure that, if a deployment fails, that it "fails small and recovers quickly" **Your role and responsibilities** * Work with engineering and product leadership to define and prioritize requirements that help us meet business objectives * As a senior software engineer on the team, you will evaluate, find and implement a solution together with our distributed team. * Lead, mentor, pair, participate in architecture design & code reviews etc. to encourage the professional and technical growth of yourselves & those around you. * Write, test, instrument, and maintain code in multiple languages * Document the systems you help build, troubleshooting steps * Ability to quickly ramp up quickly and learn tools and technologies that are **Required technical and professional expertise** * 5 or more years of experience developing production software. * Strong object-oriented design skills gained from at least 3 years of working with OOP languages and patterns. * Strong problem solving, design, coding, and debugging skills. * Proficient in at least one programming language like Javascript (node.js)/Typescript, Python, Java, Ruby etc. * Proficient in UI/Frontend development (Angular, React) * Solid understanding of testing principles and high-quality software. * Excellent communication skills both in verbal and written form. * Proficiency in at least one database system (SQL or NoSQL)! * Experience in containerization * SOA/Microservice * Experience in working in Agile environment * Proficient in application security * Able to create unit tests when developing new features **Preferred technical and professional experience** * Typescript experience * Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift experience * DevOps/SRE experience * Experience in building (CI/CD) pipelines * Experience with code repository and revision control systems e.g GitHub * Knowledge of network architecture principles and practices * A good understanding of CyberSecurity IBM is committed to creating a diverse environment and is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer.
