The Opportunity:

Join a team at the forefront of Defence innovation. We are seeking a Software Engineering Technical Professional to develop cutting-edge software solutions supporting scientific and engineering applications within the Defence environment. You’ll be part of a dynamic team working across the full software lifecycle, contributing to projects critical to national capability and warfighter effectiveness.

This role is responsible for the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software solutions for complex Fire Control Systems (FCS). You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, ensuring software integrity, system functionality, and compliance with Defence standards and user requirements.

Responsibilities:

Develop and maintain software for scientific and engineering applications, with a focus on Defence systems.Prototype and test software, troubleshoot issues, and address discrepancies against documented requirements.Apply best practice Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles in code development.Conduct software configuration management and ensure quality control processes are maintained.Translate system requirements into software design documentation and high-quality, maintainable code.Engage in system analysis and data processing design for engineering applications.Contribute to engineering test strategy development and support integration of software into larger combat systems.Collaborate in the design and development of diagnostic and utility software for use in military environments.Generate and maintain project documentation throughout the software development lifecycle.

As the ideal candidate you will bring:

Current NV1 clearance required.A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.Proficiency in C# and WPF.Strong foundation in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.Experience with Unit Testing and software validation methods.Strong organisation and prioritisation skills to manage multiple project tasks effectively.Clear and confident communicator, capable of working with technical and non-technical stakeholders alike.Experience with Defence Fire Control Systems, particularly:CORTEX architecture (as used on the AS9 Huntsman – LAND 8116 Phase 1)NASAMS Fire Distribution Centre (FDC) – Air Defence SystemsStrikeMaster Coastal Defence Systems (LAND 4100 Phase 2)Odin Fire Control SystemFamiliarity with the NATO Army Armaments Group – Shareable Software (Fire Control) Suite (S4) Programme.Exposure to legacy Ada programming language, particularly in upgrading or maintaining older Defence systems.

All candidates will be required to hold and maintain an active NV1 Defence Security Clearance. Only candidates holding a NV1 Clearance or above should apply.
