Azure Storage team is chartered with building and operating the persisted storage for the Microsoft Azure cloud. Everyone needs to store data, most of them need to store Files and we are the place they do it.
Azure Storage consists of a distributed high scale service which runs in dozens of data centers across the world. We are looking for a **Software Engineer** who wants to change the world and grow their career while doing that. We are looking for a talented software engineer who can drive design, implementation, and optimization of the Azure File Sync service. Azure File Sync offers cloud storage for on-prem file servers, can scale up to Petabytes of storage, and provide world-class reliability, performance, and security.

**Responsibilities**
+ Your responsibilities will include developing features to extend core service capabilities with a focus on security, performance, and reliability for Azure Files and Azure File Sync technologies.
+ You will design and implement systems to help operate services reliably, detect and mitigate incidents, and analyze usage and customer data to improve the product and customer experience.
+ You will be a part of a world class, collaborative team of engineers building software using agile methodologies and DevOps to run live site for the service.
+ You will have a platform to learn and research technologies, propose solutions, evaluate multiple design options, make recommendations and decisions, implement solid and efficient engineering practices, and work cross-group with our partners to build world-class end-to-end solutions that will delight our customers.
+ You need to be passionate about technology, innovation and creating distributed cloud platform services and enterprise-grade software, as well as working on challenging new features in a relatively young and fast paced product development environment.

**Qualifications**
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#
+ OR equivalent experience.
+ 2+ years of professional experience in developing scalable, multi-threaded infrastructure/backend software with C++ 1+ year(s) experience with planning, scheduling and delivery of quality software
**Other Requirements:**
+ Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
+ Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ 4+ years of professional software development experience
+ Storage and file systems experience is a plus
+ Experience in development of cloud services and distributed systems is a plus
+ Excellence in software engineering practices, coding and solid foundation in data structures, algorithms with strong testing, debugging and analytical skills
+ Experience with debugging tools like WinDBG, Wireshark etc. is a plus
+ Windows operating system knowledge is a plus
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
