Opportunity

Textron Sweden AB is seeking a Software Engineer who will be based at their offices in Trelleborg, Sweden. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Software Engineer will be responsible for maintaining and developing current and new vehicle control software. This includes gathering user requirements, defining system functionality and writing code in various programming languages. Ultimately, the role of the Software Engineer is to build high-quality, innovative and fully performing software that complies to coding standards and technical design. Textron Sweden AB develops, produces and supplies Safeaero de-icing vehicles to customers all over the world. This position includes an extensive share of hands-on design/engineering work.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Software development in C/C Preparing and presenting ideas for new/improved systems, addressing cost, schedule, and risksDevelop flowcharts, layouts and documentation to identify requirements and solutionsPreparation of documentation and training manualsWrite well designed testable codeProduce specifications and determine operational feasibilityIntegrate software components into a fully functional vehicle systemDevelop software verification plansDocument and maintain software functionalityTroubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systemsCross-platform development experience (Linux, Android and/or Windows)Project managementDemonstrated ability to execute small scale projects with on time deliveryProduction support Annual production work quota Shop floor troubleshooting as-needed Technical assistance with prototype build-ups Development of documentation materials to assist with production Fast turn-around on production generated ECO’sMiscellaneous General office duties, answering telephone queries etc.Maintaining a clean and safe working environment Health and Safety awarenessCOSHH awareness. Providing support and co-operation to management and colleaguesBeing prepared and willing to help and contribute to the success of the company at all timesObserving and adhering to Company Health and Safety guidelines

Qualifications/Skills/Requirements

You should be educated to degree level or equivalent in Engineering, preferably electrical engineering, computer engineering, software engineering, or computer scienceA Master’s degree in the Engineering disciplines above is desirableProven work experience as a software engineer or software developerExperience designing control system software and interactive applicationsAbility to develop software in C/C or other programming languages as required that will interface with a software platformAbility to debug software, problem solve and analyze information to find solutionsAbility to document requirements and specificationsSome introductory knowledge of project management principlesExperience within the GSE industry is advantageousExcellent communication skills – both verbal and writtenDemonstrated ability to meet project timelines, and excellent organisational skillsExcellent proficiency in Microsoft Office - Excel/Word/Powerpoint
