DESCRIPTION:
Duties: Design, develop and implement software solutions. Solve business problems through innovation and engineering practices. Involved in all aspects of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) including analyzing requirements, incorporating architectural standards into application design specifications, documenting application specifications, translating technical requirements into programmed application modules, and developing or enhancing software application modules. Identify or troubleshoot application code-related issues. Take active role in code reviews to ensure solutions are aligned to pre-defined architectural specifications. Assist with design reviews by recommending ways to incorporate requirements into designs and information or data flows. Participate in project planning sessions with project managers, business analysts, and team members to analyze business requirements and outline proposed solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study plus two (2) years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupation. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field of study plus five (5) years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupation.
Skills Required: This position requires experience with the following: Developing, debugging, and maintaining code using one or more of the following modern programming languages: Java 8+, Python, or Groovy; Developing deployment pipelines; Querying databases and generating data and reports using SQL and NoSQL; Generating dashboards using data visualization tools such as Splunk; Deploying code, setting VPC, setting IAM policies, and storing and retrieving data in AWS S3; Generating code quality and test coverage reports using SonarQube; Storing and retrieving keys and keeping applications secure using certificate management; Agile methodologies; Providing for the delivery and scalability of applications using continuous integration and continuous deployment practices in public cloud environments such as AWS or IBM Private Cloud; Building resilient and fault-isolated microservices using Docker and Kubernetes; Performing system design, application development, and application testing; Enhancing operational stability across the application; and Establishing approaches for planning and developing code within the Software Development Life Cycle.
