Software Engineer, OpenShift

Support Red Hat internal and external customers, fix Critical Vulnerabilities and Exposures, fix defects, implement metrics and Service Level Objectives, and implement features for Red Hat OpenShift Hive and Hypershift.

*Telecommuting permitted: work may be performed within normal commuting distance from the Red Hat, Inc. office in Boston, MA.

What You Will Do:

Responsible for writing code to implement the features and fix the bugs and work around the mass installation of OpenShift clusters.Communicate with end users and external stakeholders in communities asynchronously and synchronously in Jira or Slack to ensure user needs are met while keeping the software performant and maintainable.Participate in one on one, with the team, and with stakeholders in design sessions to discuss approaches to solving technical problems and lead the design discussion, including by researching the problem and possible solutions.Work with OpenShift Quality Engineering to ensure that features and bugs are performing as required and write documentation for the open-source community.Implement all solutions with corresponding unit tests covering all boundaries and expected parameter conditions.Deploy code to production for Red Hat OpenShift Dedicated and responsible for monitoring the production systems and responding to alerts and questions.

What You Will Bring:

Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science or related field and two (2) years of experience in the job offered or related role.Must have two (2) years of experience with: software development; object-oriented programming languages; troubleshooting issues in distributed systems; distributed application architectures and REST; cloud computing and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS); and test-driven development and unit testing frameworks and methodologies.Must have one (1) year of experience with API design.

The salary range for this position is $108,760 - $173,800. Actual offer will be based on your qualifications.

Pay Transparency
Red Hat determines compensation based on several factors including but not limited to job location, experience, applicable skills and training, external market value, and internal pay equity. Annual salary is one component of Red Hat’s compensation package. This position may also be eligible for bonus, commission, and/or equity. For positions with Remote-US locations, the actual salary range for the position may differ based on location but will be commensurate with job duties and relevant work experience.
