Role Summary We are actively seeking a highly skilled and exceptionally motivated Software Engineer to join our Charging team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the end-to-end delivery of embedded software solutions that are critical to ensuring safe, efficient, and intelligent charging experiences for our diverse fleet of electric vehicles across global markets. Your responsibilities will encompass both hands-on development and rigorous integration and testing. This dynamic position will require you to write clean, robust, and optimized code for new feature development, alongside performing meticulous hands-on integration and comprehensive testing to validate software functionality and performance. This unique blend of development and validation will expose you to a wide array of projects and features, allowing you to contribute to and gain expertise in various aspects of our charging ecosystem. You will collaborate closely with various cross-functional teams, including hardware engineers, quality assurance, and other software development teams, to deliver robust and scalable solutions. Your contributions will span the entire product lifecycle, from initial bench validation in our state-of-the-art labs to ensuring robust fleet-wide performance in real-world scenarios. Responsibilities Design and implement complex embedded systems spanning multiple domains to enable next-generation EV charging features that enhance vehicle performance, reliability, and user experience. Shape the hardware/software architecture for current and future vehicle programs, ensuring scalability, modularity, and high performance. Contribute to the software development lifecycle, from concept and design to implementation, validation, deployment, and continuous improvement in a production environment. Contribute to the new vehicle charging platform development as well as the test asset developments that involve conformance as well as regression testing. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Battery Management, Thermal Management, Connectivity, Infotainment, and EE/Hardware for various cross-functional initiatives. Contribute to technical discussions on software architecture, interface definitions, task management, and real-time system behavior across multiple ECUs and subsystems. Support root cause analysis, field issue debugging, and software optimization with a strong focus on robustness and safety-critical functionality. Qualifications B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related discipline. Strong fundamentals in embedded systems, control theory, and software engineering. Proficiency in C/C++ programming for real-time, resource-constrained environments. Experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) and multithreaded or concurrent embedded application development. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, iterative development environment with cross-disciplinary teams. A systems-oriented mindset with a passion for delivering polished, production-ready solutions that scale. Preferred Skills: Hands-on experience in automotive systems and embedded software for powertrain, charging, or similar domains. Familiarity with CAN, Ethernet, SPI, I2C and other automotive communication protocols. Experience developing or integrating SIL/HIL frameworks and automated validation tools. Exposure to ISO 26262 or other functional safety-related software development practices. Exposure to charging communication standards (J1772, ISO 15118, DIN 70121, GB/T, CHAdeMO). Experience with diagnostic services, bootloaders, and low-level software interfacing with hardware. Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $107,000 to $133,700 USD (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).
