KBR is hiring a Cleared Software Development Engineer to join the Airborne Electronic Attack (AEA) Integrated Project Team (IPT) at the Naval Air Warfare Center Weapons Division (NAWCWD) in Point Mugu, CA. Full-time on-site position. In this role, you’ll work across the full software development lifecycle, designing, building, integrating, and deploying secure, high-performance systems that meet strict Department of Defense (DoD) standards. You’ll collaborate in an Agile environment on cutting-edge projects that leverage Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to deliver real-world impact.

Roles and Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, testable, and efficient software in compliance with DoD standards.Integrate new software components into existing systems to enhance capability and performance.Troubleshoot, debug, and improve existing software solutions.Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles throughout development activities.Collaborate within Agile and SAFe Agile Framework development teams to meet project milestones and deliverables.Participate in peer reviews, code inspections, and software testing to ensure compliance and performance.Implement automated testing tools, deployment pipelines, and orchestration solutions.Maintain software security through code scanning tools, vulnerability remediation, and secure coding practices.Prepare and maintain technical documentation to support lifecycle sustainment.

Basic Qualifications

Clearance & Citizenship: U.S. Citizen with Secret Security Clearance.Education: Bachelor’s degreeExperience:  3 years of relevant experience. Must include software development experience spanning design, integration, and deployment phases as well as knowledge of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) principles.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Agile and SAFe Agile Framework environments.Proficiency with one or more of the following: JavaScript, TypeScript, CSS, NodeJS, React, C#, WPF, Java.Experience with relational and non-relational databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB).Familiarity with service-oriented architectures, microservices, REST, GraphQL, Kubernetes, HELM Charts.Knowledge of software security scanning tools (SonarQube, Twistlock) and remediation practices.Experience with DevOps tools and platforms (BitBucket, Confluence, GIT, TFS, Jira, Jira Align).Understanding of containerization, orchestration, and messaging tools (Docker, RabbitMQ, Kafka, LogStash, Zuul).

Employment is contingent upon final program funding.

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week

Basic Compensation: $94,000-$141,000. The salary range posted is based on the national average. The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience, contract affordability, and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short term incentives, long term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
