Software Development Engineer, Customer Experience and Business Trends
Description Are you customer-obsessed, data oriented, and confident in proposing opportunities to improve our customers’ experience across different Amazon businesses? Customer Experience and Business Trends (CXBT) is looking for a scale-focused and customer-obsessed Software Development Engineer. As an SDE, you will be part of a team that adds new capabilities to our customers through core engineering and AI/ML methodologies. The solutions heavily leverage technology to challenge conventional wisdom with hard data. Our SDEs solve complex problems and get to see the impact of their work first-hand. In this role you will have the opportunity to exercise your creativity and explore ideas to simulate and quantify any aspect of the customer experience. Key job responsibilities - Design, develop, and maintain scalable software solutions for data collection and analysis platforms - Build and optimize automated data collection frameworks across different surfaces (web, mobile) - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and implement efficient solutions - Write high-quality, maintainable code while following best practices and design patterns - Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical documentation - Debug production issues and implement performance improvements - Work with ML technologies and extraction services to enhance data processing capabilities - Contribute to architecture decisions and technical strategy - Mentor junior developers and participate in team's agile development process A day in the life You'll work closely with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and other engineers to build tools that enable large-scale data collection and analysis. You'll tackle challenges ranging from automation framework development to implementing new features for our self-service platforms, while ensuring high performance and reliability. About the team Customer Experience and Business Trends (CXBT) is an organization made up of a diverse suite of functions dedicated to deeply understanding and improving customer experience, globally. We are a team of builders that develop products, services, ideas, and various ways of leveraging data to influence product and service offerings – for almost every business at Amazon – for every customer (e.g., consumers, developers, sellers/brands, employees, investors, streamers, gamers). Our approach is based on determining the customer need, along with problem solving, and we work backwards from there. We use technical and non-technical approaches and stay aware of industry and business trends. We are a global team, made up of a diverse set of profiles, skills, and backgrounds – including: Product Managers, Software Developers, Computer Vision experts, Solutions Architects, Data Scientists, Business Intelligence Engineers, Business Analysts, Risk Managers, and more. Basic Qualifications - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language - Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations Preferred Qualifications - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent - Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers - Knowledge of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals, including transformer architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization techniques Our inclusive culture empowers Amazonians to deliver the best results for our customers.
