**Your role and responsibilities**
As part of IBM's Accessibility team, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining tools that help product teams meet global accessibility standards like US Section 508 and EN 301 549. You will play an integral role in building the next generation of accessibility assessment, reporting, and compliance systems that support IBM's commitment to inclusive design. **Required technical and professional expertise**
* 4+ years of experience in Node.js development
* 2+ years of experience in developing high-performing, scalable backend services
* Experience building and maintaining NPM packages and managing dependencies
* Expert in JavaScript and TypeScript
* Experience with CI/CD build environments (e.g., Tekton)
* Experience with package management and versioning
* Proficient in API development and integration
* Experience with automated testing frameworks
* Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, such as GitHub
* Knowledge of DevOps and Agile development principles
* Experience with build automation and deployment pipelines
* Troubleshooting, testing and performance optimization skills
* Experience with Open Source communities/projects
* Experience using Agile Scrum methodology
* Understanding of accessibility standards and compliance requirements
* Fluent in English and solid communication skills
**Preferred technical and professional experience**
* Experience with accessibility testing tools and frameworks
* Familiarity with WCAG, Section 508, and EN 301 549 standards
* Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
* Backend unit testing (Jest, Mocha, etc.)
* Integration testing frameworks
* Experience with NoSQL database systems (e.g., CouchDB)
* Knowledge of web accessibility evaluation tools
* Experience with reporting systems and data visualization
