We are looking for Software Developer, Embedded Systems. This position will be based in Peachtree Corners GA.
In this role you will be responsible for developing and implementing software for our embedded prototypes and products (bare metal-based products, RTOS and/or Linux) in a variety of areas, including algorithm development, microcontroller/microprocessor programming, wired and wireless communications, IoT security, and testing.
You’ll make a difference by: Design, develop and test low-level software for prototype embedded devices and systems. Develop algorithms for detection and control in new device concepts. Create test plans and perform validation for software at different levels. Assist in deploying new product introduction in manufacturing for mass production as necessary. Contribute to periodic analysis of resources (memory, timing, speed etc.) for identified microcontrollers and microprocessors to help develop efficient, stable, and scalable products and systems. Work closely with all engineering disciplines including other software/firmware, electrical hardware, mechanical, test engineers and so on to ensure quick turnaround of prototypes. Remain up-to-date on relevant hardware, software and protocol development. You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:Basic Qualifications:
An undergraduate or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related subject area is required. Advanced degree (Master’s/ PhD degree) can be substituted for industry experience. 10+ years of experience with the following: Developing software for embedded applications, especially hardware related programming of real time operating systems on microcontrollers and microprocessors. Experience in C or C++ and hands-on development and troubleshooting on embedded microcontrollers or microprocessors-based systems (bare metal, RTOS and/or Linux). Experience working with multiple communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART etc.) and industry standard security packages for secure firmware and data transfer between communicating devices. Understanding of embedded firmware, source code control systems, test automation scripting, application software and test-driven development processes. Experience working with industry standard programmers and debugging environments (JTAG etc.). Ability to create and communicate measurable software requirements and design documentation. Hardware expertise: proficient in interpreting hardware schematics, using electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, multi-meters, DC power supplies), and understanding electrical power distribution systems Software development and testing: experienced with software testing tools (Unity, SonarQube), version control systems (Git, ClearCase), and safety software certification (UL 1998) Technical tools and languages: skilled in Python test automation, Hardware in Loop testing, and MATLAB/SIMULINK for analytical modeling and product design Project methodology and processes: familiar with Agile methodologies and software development lifecycle, in a fast-paced environment Problem-solving capabilities: strong analytical and decision-making skills, able to independently debug and optimize complex code, with excellent quality orientation Communication excellence: outstanding interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying complex ideas to diverse audiences including product management and engineers Professional attributes: self-motivated teammate with strong customer focus, capable of producing excellent results with minimal direction and meeting project goals You’ll benefit from: Siemens offers a variety of health and wellness benefits to our employees.
