Software Dev Manager III, Amazon Leo
Amazon Leo is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

We are seeking an experienced Software Development Manager to lead build engineering and release management for Customer Terminal (CT) software within the Skynet organization. In this role, you will own the end-to-end software delivery pipeline for Customer Terminals — from build system design and automation to release qualification, OTA deployment, and mainline health governance.

You will manage a team of software development engineers responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable build infrastructure, release pipelines, and automation frameworks that support CT software delivery at scale. You will partner closely with firmware, systems, test, and program management teams across Skynet and adjacent organizations to drive high-quality, on-time software releases.

Export Control Requirement
Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of engineers focused on CT build engineering and release management, establishing team mission, roadmap, and operating mechanisms
- Own the CT software build pipeline, including build system architecture, versionset governance, and artifact management
- Drive end-to-end release management processes: release branch creation, build qualification, SRM (Software Release Management) execution, and OTA deployment coordination
- Define and enforce release readiness criteria, mainline health standards, and release gating policies in collaboration with software and systems teams
- Establish and improve automation frameworks to reduce manual toil, accelerate build cycle times, and increase release cadence
- Partner with cross-functional teams, including firmware, hardware, test, and program management, to align release schedules and resolve blocking issues
- Manage release risk through structured bug scrubs, critical issue triage, and patch build processes for time-sensitive deployments
- Drive continuous improvement in build reliability, pipeline observability, and release velocity through data-driven mechanisms
- Represent the CT build and release function in cross-organizational planning and roadmap discussions
