We're looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer in Test to be the founding engineer of a Quality and Automation platform powering Tez CX, the customer experience layer for Quick Commerce across 8+ global marketplaces. If you want to build something from scratch that changes how an entire organization ships software, this is the role.
Quick Commerce is one of the fastest growing businesses at Amazon. Customers expect delivery in minutes, tolerance for defects is near zero, and the cost of switching to a competitor is a single tap. Tez CX serves millions of customers across India, MENA, North America, Europe, UK, and Japan, and every new marketplace we launch multiplies the surface area for quality risk. Today, testing is largely manual, sequential, and reactive. You will change that.
You will own the technical vision and hands on delivery of the quality infrastructure that makes rapid, confident releases possible at worldwide scale. This is not a "write more test cases" role. You will architect and build the systems that entire engineering and QA teams rely on to ship with confidence.
Here is what you will build:
- An AI driven autonomous QA platform that executes test plans, catches regressions, and files actionable bugs across marketplaces without human intervention
- Self healing UI automation that creates and maintains test suites as the product evolves
- Cross marketplace regression infrastructure that validates every change across all programs before deployment
- Self serve tooling for load, stress, chaos, and performance testing at production scale
- Automated quality gates embedded in CI/CD pipelines covering coverage, regression signals, and performance baselines, enforced at merge time not discovered post deployment
- Quality observability dashboards that give engineering leadership a real time view of deployment readiness, test health, and release quality trends
- Test data pipelines, synthetic data generation, device farms, and on demand environment provisioning
You will work closely with Principal Engineers, Senior SDEs, and SDMs who co own the quality strategy. Your job is to be the single threaded architect and executor who turns that strategy into a production grade platform. You will also drive cross team adoption: building the tooling is half the job, influencing partner teams to integrate quality gates and automation frameworks into their workflows is the other half.
This role is for someone who is passionate about quality infrastructure as a craft, not as a stepping stone to feature development, and who wants to define the playbook from the ground up for a Tier 1 system at global scale.
Key job responsibilities
- Architect and build the Tez CX Quality and Automation platform from the ground up, owning the end to end technical vision across test infrastructure, automation frameworks, CI/CD quality gates, and observability
- Design and deliver an AI driven agentic QA platform that autonomously executes test plans, identifies regressions, validates customer experience flows, and files actionable bugs across 8+ global marketplaces
- Build self healing UI automation infrastructure that generates, maintains, and repairs test suites as the product evolves, eliminating the manual test authoring bottleneck
- Create cross marketplace regression tooling that validates every code change across all tenant programs before deployment, catching regressions at source instead of in production
- Engineer self serve DevOps and resilience tooling for load testing, stress testing, chaos engineering, and performance testing at production scale
- Embed automated quality gates into CI/CD pipelines enforcing coverage thresholds, regression signals, performance baselines, and marketplace sanity checks at merge time
- Build quality and test observability dashboards surfacing test coverage gaps, flaky test patterns, automation pass rates, deployment readiness scores, and release quality trends
- Design and manage test data pipelines, synthetic data generation, and on demand environment provisioning to unblock parallel development and testing
- Set up and operate a dedicated device farm and test lab for performance, compatibility, and chaos testing with reproducible environments at scale
- Drive cross team adoption of quality frameworks, automation tooling, and testing standards across partner engineering teams, not just building the tools but operationalizing them into team workflows
- Collaborate with Principal Engineers, Senior SDEs, and SDMs to shape and execute the quality and automation strategy, translating strategic direction into concrete platform deliverables
- Champion test driven development practices and shift left culture across the engineering organization, embedding quality into the development workflow rather than treating it as a post development gate
- Establish security scanning and PII compliance validation as automated checks within the deployment pipeline
A day in the life
Your primary focus is building and scaling the quality and automation platform for Tez CX. You spend most of your time writing code, designing the agentic QA engine, building automation frameworks, wiring quality gates into pipelines, and tuning chaos testing infrastructure. This is a hands on, deep in the code role.
Your customers are engineers, product managers, engineering managers, and QA teams across all Amazon Quick Commerce. SDEs use your platform to run load tests before launches. QAEs use your automation infrastructure to validate flows across marketplaces in parallel. PMs rely on your platform signals to assess quality risk before rolling out to new marketplaces. Engineering managers use your dashboards to track release readiness, quality trends, and automation coverage.
Between building, you work with partner teams to drive adoption of quality frameworks, collaborate with Principal Engineers on architecture decisions, and use observability data to shape what you build next.
