Join Our Team at Metropolitan Human Services District – Addiction Services Department Metropolitan Human Services District (MHSD) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Addiction Counselor to join our Addiction Services Department. As a Social Service Counselor 5-A in this role, you will provide independent, professional counseling services with a focus on clients facing specialized, complex, or co-occurring disorders. Minimum Qualifications Possession of a current Louisiana license to practice as a Licensed Addiction Counselor by the Addictive Disorder Regulatory Authority (ADRA) plus three years of counseling experience. Job Duties and Other Information The Social Service Counselor 5-A will apply advanced clinical, educational, and managerial skills to develop and maintain clinical protocols that ensure high-quality, person-centered care delivered by professional staff. This role requires expertise in addictive disorders treatment, along with strong clinical judgment, decision-making, and analytical abilities. The candidate must also have basic computer proficiency. Key responsibilities include: + Applying adult learning principles to teach and influence others in effective addiction treatment practices + Recommending improvements to clinical protocols and systems based on analysis and best practices + Working independently while managing priorities and maintaining strict confidentiality + Collaborating effectively with administrative leaders, clinical professionals, and contract staff as needed + The ideal candidate is a proactive professional with the ability to lead, educate, and support a multidisciplinary team in providing compassionate, evidence-based addiction services.
