Purpose
The Assistant Manager Social & Environmental Affairs (SEA) will support the implementation of adidas’ social compliance policies, program and human rights due diligence in the upstream supply chain. The scope of this role includes supporting the effective implementation of key strategic projects and initiatives, and actively engaging with internal and external stakeholders. The role will also include administrative program support, to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the SEA program globally.
Key Responsibilities:
Social Compliance Program Support (75%)
Support the effective implementation of SEA policies, projects, and programs across the region in alignment with the established work plan
Assist the SEA Social Assurance Team in tracking compliance monitoring activities in the upstream supply chain, ensuring alignment with the annual work plan
Carry out specific tasks in implementation of the adidas Responsible Recruitment Policy across the supply chain, with a specific focus on sourcing regions with high dependencies on foreign migrant labor
Contribute to social compliance data collection, analysis and reporting, and improving the integrity, accuracy, completion, and the timeliness of social compliance data
Conduct qualitative research and benchmarking of social compliance and human rights trends and topics in related industry and country
Engage with key internal stakeholders and external stakeholders to integrate social compliance requirements into business practices
Support other ad-hoc projects within the SEA team on an as-needed basis
Program Administration Support (25%)
Support with tracking and managing SEA program budgets, including program and consultancy costs, travel costs, and other related program activity costs
Collate monthly management reports documenting key updates from SEA program initiatives and other relevant business/program updates
Support in the procurement of external services (e.g. consultancy services) and process contracts, invoices and purchase orders
Support in issuing SEA program communications to adidas business partners on an as-needed basis
Key Relationships
Other SEA team members including Field Operations, Social Assurance and Program Operations
External stakeholders such as civil society and non-governmental organizations (NGOs), industry associations and multi-stakeholder initiatives
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated commitment to and interest in advancing human rights and labor standards in global supply chains and knowledge in human rights, labor, environment, health & safety regulations, and international labor standards preferred
Direct project management knowledge and experience, including developing and maintaining project plans, providing regular communication and coordination, high priority setting and problem solving, and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively via multiple formats, including data visualizations, written narratives/reports, and verbal presentations.
Effective cross-functional collaborator with strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build and manage relationships internally and externally
Direct experience conducting in-depth social compliance/human rights due diligence assessment, and/or occupational health & safety assessments is highly desirable
Fluency in English required, additional fluency in Chinese (Cantonese and Mandarin) highly desirable
Requisite Education and Experience:
University degree (Bachelor’s) in a relevant discipline such as Social Science, Business Administration, or related discipline
Minimum of 3+ years’ experience in social compliance, sustainability, supply chain, or global sourcing business
Experience in data analytics and reporting, including but not limited to use of Power BI
Proficient and effective use of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams)
