The Lyle School District is a K-12 district located in the Columbia River Gorge serving about 185 students in Klickitat County, WA.

Lyle School District is seeking a social-emotional counselor for students in grades Pre-K thru 12th grade. You will collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators to create a supportive and inclusive school environment that may include, individual or group counseling, helping students navigate challenges such as anxiety, stress, bullying, and relationship issues. You will assist in implementing and maintaining programs that promote social skills, emotional regulation, and conflict resolution, aiming to enhance students' overall mental health and academic success. Additionally, you will serve as a point of contact for referrals to external mental health services when more intensive support is required.

Terms of Employment:

The current pay range for this non-union position is $29.00 per hour.

Essential Functions/Other Functions

Essential Functions:

Regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to support students and families, as well as monitor student engagement and attendance. Homeless Liaison. Establish effective and supportive relationships with administrative, teachers, and building staff. Serve as a positive role model for students and practice the behaviors that are expected of our students. Keeping a log of interactions with all students, parent, or staff communications. Ensure confidentiality of all records and files and utilize technology to create reports to maintain, track and analyze student data from the Skyward Student Information System. Provide direct services to students, families in poverty, make referrals, advocate for basic needs, knowledge of, and ability to work with, local programs a must. Build relationships and problem solve, with parents of students not completing work, not following classroom, playground or school rules and/or with students with on-going discipline issues. Gain knowledge of academic options provided by the district as well as those outside of the district, provide referrals and attend multi-disciplinary meetings, including IEP’s, school re-entry, etc. Secondary students only- Encourage students to enroll in post-secondary education, and trade schools after high school.

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree OR; 2 years of college level studies. Preferred Qualifications: Spanish Speaker. 2 years of directly related experience. Connections with local resources available to students and families. Social work background.

Employment Requirements: Successful completion of criminal history and fingerprint check through the Washington State Patrol and FBI.
