SMCR Director
You will report into the Senior Director, Global HR Risk Liaison Officer and lead the SMCR function, with particular focus on implementing change to enhance the function both strategically and operationally, along with the delivery of all aspects of the Senior Manager & Certification Regime, supported by the SMCR Manager.

You will lead the function on a day to day basis, guide, influence and consult with senior business leaders and internal stakeholders, provide regular reporting to all SMF1’s and work closely with HR colleagues, Compliance, Legal, and Operational Risk teams to jointly manage relevant activities, meet regulator expectations and mitigate risk for the organisation.

How you'll spend your time...

Provide thought leadership and consultation to senior business leaders and other internal stakeholders.Drive enhanced working practices to meet the increasing demands of the regulator and internal stakeholders.Enhance efficiency and sustainability of the function through automation, technology, data analytics and identification of areas for improvement. Anticipate and plan for changing regulation, identifying appropriate action plans, advising and guiding senior leaders on industry best practice and leading on the interpretation of regulation.Manage the life cycle activities for SMF’s including applications, regulatory challenges, creation and maintenance of Management Responsibility Maps and Statements of Responsibility, changes in responsibility, withdrawals, handovers, references and Fitness and Propriety assessments. Oversee the management of the Certified Persons population such as joiners, role changes, leavers. manager changes, data reconciliations, data integrity, Material Risk Taker certifications and Fitness and Propriety assessments.Partner with the Compliance, Legal and Finance teams to maintain accurate entity classifications.Maintain and develop SMCR Policy, procedures, intranet site, guidance documents and training materials.Manage the SMCR system vendor relationship to achieve the best usability and value for money, and partner with the HR Systems team to maintain and enhance system capability.Collaborate extensively and effectively with HR colleagues in Talent Acquisition, Employee Relations, Reward, HR Risk and Compliance and HR Business Partnering to provide seamless support to internal stakeholders.Collaborate extensively and effectively with the Compliance, Legal and Operational Risk teams to jointly meet regulator expectations and mitigate risk for the organisation.


To be successful in this role you will have...

Experience of delivering SMCR to ensure continual compliance with regulation and internal policies and processes.Able to communicate and influence effectively at a senior executive level.Able to take accountability for controls and processes and experience of implementing process change.Structured, focused, methodical approach: adhering to and continually improving processes.Advanced attention to detail and analytical capability.Experience in a fast-paced environment, with an ability to manage multiple deliverables and balance priorities.Ability to utilise systems and technology to deliver the SMCR requirements. Strong sense of discretion and integrity.  Ability to work within an HR environment and uphold the highest standards of confidentiality.  


It would be great if you also had...

Experience using Star Compliance system for maintaining records and managing the certification process
