Bowhead Transport LLC is seeking a skilled and proactive Smartsheet Data Systems Specialist to support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of data-driven systems across the organization. This position is responsible for building and managing Smartsheet-based solutions for project planning, marine operations tracking, cargo logistics, compliance reporting, and process automation. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in Smartsheet development, workflow automation, and data integrity, combined with excellent communication skills to collaborate across departments.
ResponsibilitiesEssential functions will include:
Smartsheet System Design & Administration
Develop and maintain complex Smartsheet dashboards, reports, forms, and automated workflows to support operational planning, project tracking, cargo movement, and HSSE documentation.Create and manage data integration between Smartsheet and external systems (e.g., Microsoft 365, SharePoint, Power BI, Google Workspace, or ERPs as applicable).Ensure version control, data security, user access governance, and template standardization across all Smartsheet environments.Operational & Project Support
Support marine operations by building tools to track fleet movement, crew scheduling, maintenance planning, and voyage reporting.Assist project managers and department leads in structuring data capture and progress reporting tools for infrastructure, seasonal logistics, and marine projects.Coordinate with port captains, engineers, safety leads, and logistics coordinators to implement efficient data capture and reporting flows.Reporting & Analytics
Generate weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reports for internal leadership, compliance audits, and client deliverables using Smartsheet dashboards or exporting to Excel/PowerPoint.Identify and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), operational bottlenecks, and data-driven trends.Training & End-User Support
Serve as the internal Smartsheet champion—train, coach, and support Bowhead Transport staff in using Smartsheet tools effectively.Develop user documentation and conduct onboarding for new system users.Troubleshoot system issues and recommend improvements.Process Improvement & Compliance
Collaborate with the Safety Manager and Operational Integrity team to build systems supporting ISO, ISM, and Subchapter M documentation.Support QMS/SMS digitization efforts and operational audits by ensuring data accuracy, traceability, and reporting compliance.Propose system enhancements and process optimization solutions aligned with business goals. QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Systems, IT, Logistics, or related field; or equivalent industry experience.3+ years of experience in Smartsheet platform development and systems administration.Proficiency with workflow automation, forms, reporting tools, and dashboard creation.Strong working knowledge of data structuring, Excel, and document control principles.Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a dynamic marine operations environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Smartsheet Core Product or Solution Certification.Familiarity with maritime logistics, marine operations, or construction project workflows.Experience integrating Smartsheet with Power BI, Zapier, Microsoft Power Automate, or similar tools.
Working Conditions:
Office-based position in Anchorage with potential field visits to project sites or port facilities.Standard working hours with occasional after-hours support during peak seasons.
