SLPA - Speech Language Pathologist Assistants for Schools
Amergis Staffing is currently seeking Speech Language Pathologist Assistants for the 2025/2026 school year in the Port Hueneme, CA area. The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant assists the Speech Language Pathologist in providing speech and language services. The Speech Language Pathologist Assistant will have clinical, educational, documentation, and treatment related activities while working within the scope of responsibilities/ plan of care assigned by the Speech Language Pathologist and/or physician. Position Details: Pay: $2400 Weekly (Travel candidates for 50+ miles) Schedule: Monday – Friday Hours/Week: 40 Hours Weekly Start Date: February 2026 Length: 2025/2026 School Year & 2026/2027 School Year Setting: Preschool age Minimum Requirements: + Must be a graduate of a SLPA program with an associate’s degree, or have a bachelor’s degree in a speech-language pathology or communication disorders program + Successful completion of a minimum of 100 hours of supervised field work experience or its clinical experience equivalent as required by state and/or contract + Current certification or licensure as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant in the State of Practice + Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice + One (1) year of prior professional Speech-Language Pathology Assistant experience preferred + Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice + TB questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable + Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation) + Must meet all federal, state and local requirements + Must be at least 18 years of age Essential Duties & Responsibilities: -Provides components of a speech and language program as specified in the treatment plan developed by a supervising SLP in accordance with the physician’s plan of care according to state regulations -Self-identifies as SLPA to families, students, patients, clients, staff and others -Assists the SLP with speech, language, and hearing screenings without clinical interpretation -Assists the SLP during assessment of students, clients, and patients exclusive of administration and/or interpretation -Assists the SLP with bilingual translation during screening and assessment activities exclusive of interpretation -Provides timely and accurate documentation of student, client and patient performance and reports this information to the supervising SLP -Programs and provides instruction in the use of augmentative and alternative communication devices -Demonstrates or shares information with patients, families, caregivers, and staff regarding feeding strategies developed and directed by the SLP as State Practice Acts permit -May adapt educational materials and equipment for the purpose of providing intervention and/or meeting the individual patient, client, student needs -May assist with clerical duties, such as preparing materials and scheduling activities, as directed by the SLP -Cleans and maintains equipment used in the field in accordance with manufactures guidelines Reports reaction(s) to treatment or change(s) in condition of the patient, client, and student to the supervising SLP and alternate clinical designee as indicated.
