Job Description

 This position will support all production operations to optimize output and minimize waste while maintaining excellent quality and safety standards. Assist in the manufacture of quality products (per customer standards) as determined by the production schedule and or supervisor. To gain understanding of the technical knowledge required in the manufacturing process, and will continuously improve skills and productivity through teamwork. Performing housekeeping chores as needed, to maintain a safe and orderly work environment.

Job Dimensions:

12 hour schedule on days (6:00AM-6:00PM) or nights (6:00PM-6:00AM). Must be available to work weekends and Holidays.

Principal Accountabilities:

Be proactive with product quality, process and machine issues.Assist in maintaining machines and auxiliary equipment.Perform all functions including operation of slitter, product inspection, area clean up, quality testing requirements, etcCommunicate within the group to insure co-workers are kept up to date with what occurred during the shift. Must be able to anticipate things that will come up after shift change and communicate all shift activities verbally and through documenting in shift logs.Set up and operate line to meet product requirements.Record machine and process conditions.Perform and document quality checks.Operate machine to achieve and exceed standard scrap and efficiencies

Qualifications/Requirements

Knowledge & Experience:

Technical and mechanical knowledge of slitting machinesFilm handling fundamentalsManufacturing experience preferred

Education & Certifications:

High school diploma or GED, Associates Degree and/or industrial certification preferred

Skills/Abilities/Behaviours:

Solid verbal and written communication skillsMechanic aptitudeGood troubleshooting and problem solving skills are essentialDemonstrates organizational skillsRead dimensional graphic templates in both metric/standard and apply to finished productBasic computer skills

Physical Demands

Physically able to lift 50 lbsStanding up to 12 hours per day on a rotating day or evening shift, up to 5 days per weekOccasional twisting, turning, or bending to move items up to 50 lbs.Alert state of mind to avoid safety hazards, Able to make fast reaction to visual/sound signalAble to read/see up to 1/16 of an inch Able to read; must be able to read English text, blueprints. Work Environment

Job is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in high, precarious places. This position requires the use of eye protection, hair net, and hearing protection in designated areas. When handling a sharp object or tool a cut glove must be worn per safety requirements. Other required PPE is task specific.  GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant.
